Life Rolls On (They Will Surf Again) will be on July 25, 2009 at Lori Wilson Park (North side....same as last year).

Please come out to show your support for the SHS Surf Team. These students will be representing all of Central Florida so please show your support for these awesome young high school surfers. There will be showing a great surf movie and some raffles to raise money for the trip. Come out and relax in your lawn chair and have a killer burrito and an ice cold beverage. Don't miss it - Saturday, May 30th, 6pm-9:30. Your cash donation would be greatly appreciated. We are leaving on June 2nd and time is ticking...

There is also a carwash on Sunday the 31st from 10-2pm at Long Doggers in Satellite beach. Car wash tickets can be purchased at movie night for $5.00

The 2009 Waterman's Challenge will be held on June 6th and 7th at Holiday Inn in Cocoa Beach. Just wanted to give everyone a head's up. It will be the same good grassroots feel with surfing, paddleboard, SUP, and retro divisions.

As you may know, Dave Floyd and other Delaura supporters have been busy landscaping Delaura Middle School. To date, we were able to get a grant for $2000 from Keep Brevard Beautiful (KBB) which resulted in over 300 primarily native plants added to once barren areas. Another grant from the Central Florida Palm and Cycad Society (CFPACS) will add $500 worth of unique palms to provide much needed shade and a vertical dimension to the landscape. To showcase these accomplishments and raise additional funds for materials not covered under the grants, we are putting on a plant sale and community garage sale at DMS on Saturday May 9th from 9-3PM. This event will feature a large selection of very reasonable priced plants and tikis just in time for Mother's Day. We already have 7 vendors signed up to sell a variety of Palms, Bromeliads, Crotons, Fruit trees, and a large group of flowering plants (Plumerias, Desert Rose, Heleconias, Gingers, etc). A portion of the sale of these items will be donated to the DMS DPO and you will be supporting local backyard growers as well.

On March 4th, Roy Scafidi of Oceansports World, awoke to a burning house. He was just able to make it out with his family before the whole house was engulfed. Roy has two small children and they all lost everything... including their clothes.

How 2ndlighters can help --- Roy said what they need most right now are gift cards for places like Target, Ross, Wal-Mart, Publix etc. If you can assist Roy & Pam you could pick up gift cards for any of the places mentioned above and either drop them off at Oceansports World or drop them in the mail to the shop at: Roy Scafidi Oceansports World, 3220 S. Tuesday March 3rd, Bruce Reynolds and the Kelly Slater Project will be hosting a Art Show Rusty's Seafood Restaurant at Port Canaveral 6PM. The show will feature works by Bruce, and the full size clay model will be on display as well. Some of the proceeds from the show will go to the Kelly Slater Project. Rusty's will provide hors d'oevres and drink specials. The AQUANUTS will be providing surf tunes for all to enjoy. Bruce is really doing some incredible stuff these days, so come out for a good night of art, drinks, and music --- and help get the Slater Project bronzed. Flyer
