What do democracy and communism have in common?
By Jon Britton

What do democracy and communism have in common......

The commonalities begin with class warfare between the haves and the have-nots. The have-nots will always exist in greater numbers than the haves, so democracy allows the majority have-nots to vote themselves control of what the haves have.

Like the old communist saying, "from each according to their ability, to each according to their need." Whether wealth redistribution is by means of government force or "democratic" mob rule is largely irrelevant. Both methods have the same result.

Democracy, socialism and communism are sold under the auspices of "power to the people," but it is a false claims on all counts. It is power to the people, who are IN POWER. Nothing more.

The only real power that "the people" ever have is in their consent, "consent of the governed." And in their ability to withdraw that consent, but only IF they have the firepower to back it up.

Otherwise, the will of others will be imposed upon you, be it the government's will or the majority's will.

The Constitutional Republic model is the only governmental model I've seen that retains the "power of the people," restricts or restrains the power of government and allows for the rights of the minority to be protected from both the majority and the government itself. The balance and separation of powers are key.

There is a reason why Democrats and Socialist/Communists demonize the rich. Democracy, socialism and communism all require class envy and class warfare to achieve their power. Consolidating power is the goal. Concentrated within the democratic mob or concentrated with the central government planners. Concentrated power is never a good thing.

Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
