Thanks in advance just for opening up to see what kind of pitiful help I'm seeking. HAH
My wife is turning 30 something lol 33 actually and I have slacked in the birthday department the last few years. I'd like some ideas from people who don't know us personally. When I ask family and friends they just all say the same typical, walk on the beach, go for a hike, dinner, etc. I'm not afraid to spend a few bucks to surprise her with something cool. I just want to do something unique. Yes we have kids, no they don't have to be included. |

Take her on a weekend getaway. My recommendation is Philly. You can go to the James Beard Award winning best restaurant and best chef restaurant in the USA, Zahav. It's only 50 bucks for a tasting menu and one will be plenty for the two of you. Book early, like a month or more out, or sit at the bar can get a seat any night, the bar is a fun atmosphere. In the day you can take the Philly Big Red bus tour, visit all the sites like the National Museum, Rocky statue, Eastern State Penitentiary (where many movies were filmed), Mutter Museum, Reading Terminal Market, Betsy Ross house, Liberty Bell etc etc. If you go, let me know. I'll tell you all the best places to get a bite or have a cocktail. Cheers!

Yes something like HAP said. Airfares aren't much, New Orleans DC so many places. Or if you don't bug on driving, Savannah.

Come on, be bold. I gave my wife sailing lessons once. B&B in Amelia Island. Sweet boat. Instructor was senile and deaf as a stone. Wind blew 25+ all weekend and we took green water over the rail with both reefs in. Haha. Still married. I don't know why. Best bday ever.

Get her what they all really like.
Drive to Orlando, go to Tiffany's in Millenia Mall. Get something nice about 10% over your budget. She might say "you shouldn't have" but trust me, she's not giving it back. (but if you do pick something weird, she can exchange it) Edited: 09/19/2019 at 06:02 PM by paddleout |

A little gem not often traveled.... Tarpon Springs. Greek restaurants are off the hook there.

If you want local, Port d'Hiver on Ocean ave and A1A in Melbourne beach is a classy B+B, near the beach and walking distance to a hand full of restaurants...

We are lucky here in my part of the beach. Nobody airbnb's. The derelicts that inherit their homes from their families use them for meth dens. |

As apparently the sole woman on the thread - definitely experiences over things. A really nice B&B in Melbourne Beach (Port D Hiver is nice but I like the location of this one better) is the Sea Glass inn. We have friends who stay there a lot - maybe not quite as fancy, but quiet.
I like to go up to St. Augustine (or Savannah, although I really prefer St. Augustine) and do different things. But I have a surprising recommendation. Does she like horses? Has she always secretly wanted a horse? Take her to Lexington Kentucky (Allegiant has insanely cheap fares out of Sanford straight to the Bluegrass airport), and tour some of the Thoroughbred farms, and do the distillery tour. It's a REALLY great little city (my daughter lives there and works on one of the farms). Tour the Kentucky Horse Park for history, Claiborne farms (They let you actually TOUCH past Derby winners) and then hit the Woodford Distillery for their excellent booze tour. Stay at a little AirBnB in the NoLi district or on one of the TB farms. You will LOVE it if she is at all interested in horses, and this is about HER. If you let me know enough in advance I can arrange some lessons on a really safe school horse, too, so that she can ride, as well. If not, well, the distillery tour is still awesome . The idea is to think of her hidden interests. What has she always wanted to do but didn't really think she could? See if you can find a way to make that happen. ------------------------- [Feminism is] a socialist, anti-family, political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians. ~Pat Robertson Edited: 09/22/2019 at 02:24 PM by moody |

How about a couple's massage therapy? Also a few years back, maybe a year after our first child, I got her enrolled in a Yoga class, and she picked some sessions specific to helping Moms get over some physical issues from carrying and labor. She loved it.

If you want to go all out; Tabacon in Costa was top notch! Lots of cool hiking, horseback riding and chillaxing. We got a couples massage right next to an actual waterfall that kept us cool with it's mist. I slept through most of mine, but i'm pretty sure it kicked ass.

Porsche experience Atlanta (if she's into that sort of thing). Fly up in Morning, drive on track, have lunch at their nice restaurant, fly home in afternoon.

If your yard is big enough, get her a riding mower. She'll really appreciate not having to push anymore.
