Yes indeed, I'm catching a flight to Casablanca tomorrow evening. My lovely girlfriend is a Peace Corps volunteer and has been living and serving in a small village in the desert called Akka, in the province of Tata, for the past year and four months. We're spending two weeks traveling through Northern Morocco and along the coast. I'll have plenty of pictures and stories when I get back. Take care all of you, and if we get any waves, slide a couple for your old dawn patrol buddy R-man. Peace,
Riverman

(Title edited in 2019 so nobody thinks I've left my wife and kids and run off with a new girlfriend to Morocco

I don't know if I'll get in any surfing on this trip, but you gotta compromise sometimes. I know I'll probably get some flack for this, but some ladies are worth more than even the best right point breaks. This one is at least I'll try and send you a postcard brotha-man. And thanks to all of you for the well-wishing. You guys are cosmic.

That may be true.....but what about a left point break?.

Ohh great, R-Man is in love.
You're too young....
....besides, you're a surfer and she can only be number 2.
The ocean will always be your mistress and number 1 in your heart.

Godspeed...pleasant travels, safe journey.

If she's as good a woman as you think she is, she'll not only let you go surfing, she'll encourage you to do so. Some of the best waves I've caught in my travels were in Morocco, not really the best season for surf right now though. Something kinda mesmerizing about those desert sand points.

That's awesome! Spred some good vibes to the Muslim world. It's great that you are willing to travel to a known surfing mecca for your girl and not expect to surf. I don't know your situation, but I would think she would want you to get wet at least once while you're there. It's a huge surf destination for Europe so I'm guessing they rent lots of boards there. Take care and safe travels!

Wow, talk about resurrecting an OLD thread! Haha! So, quick update. It's 12 years later, I've been married for 9 years (different woman than the one I visited in Morocco), we have two kids- 8 year old, Jack, and 6 year old, Cecilia. Life is good and loving every minute of it with my family. Still surfing but not as much as I would like. Will be at the vintage log contest on Friday, so hopefully I'll see some of you old forumers out there! And Morocco was totally amazing. I saw some waves in Essaouira, but I didn't have a chance to surf. I'd love to go back someday and score those hollow rights!
