No end to bright ideas.
In France, Lastage got rid of the shoelaces, going for a Velcro waist closure.
O'Neill is trying to do likewise.
Now Vans thinks boardshorts should open from the side, or something like that.
My last non local purchase was from Almond Surfboards, $30, made in Texas. A little short at 17" and a little odd in having a real shoelace.

I remember chafing, an extra added misery on top of sunburn after a day at the beach. I don't think any serious modern trunk does that, but expensive bonded/welded seams seem nice.

I rethought, and remembered. Velcro sucks. Buy real trunks. Balsa Bills.

hmmmm, I wanna say my old sundek's had a snap? Best ones I've had in the last 10 years were the second generation quick diamond dobby with flat lace and velcro for pocket and string for keys sown into the inside leg of pocket. no zippers. that is key with me. too lazy to wash every time to avoid salt crud. still rock my balsa bills when I get to my summer weight.

Why in the eff do they put back pockets for wax?

They should make the designers surf in the damn things for a few sessions before they go to the tailor for manufacturing. You can tell Bill's were designed by an actual surfer.

I was in the pool yesterday with a 20-year old pair of Spectrum Surf Shop house brand trunks. Still rock solid. You definitely don't have to spend top dollar quality stuff.

I still have birdwells that haven't fit me for decades. They were the no chafing, quick dry durable champs.

Yeah, those last forever. Will have to find mine and see if they fit.

Good on you RJ. Ahhhh, Spectrum was the real stuff, right Keith?

I still have two pair of BB cotton shorts. It would help if I could surf more though.
