I think LSU takes it. Alabama just doesn't look as sharp everywhere. If Tua has another bad game in end championship, hurts can't bail them out. Clemson has had some very near losses that show a QB can't do it all and I cannot accept Ohio state.

My guess is Wisconsin will take it all. They have been blowing every one out.

Wisconsin is no joke but the defense will falter and will probably end up top 4 teams with one loss. Alabama LSU is definitely the match up to see. Clemson will run away with the ACC even if Miami makes it to Charlotte.

Speaking of the Yuckeyes, they play Northwestern Friday night.

Throwing UCF in the convo, UCF plays ECU Saturday night. Favored by 30+. UCF is one game behind Cincinnati in conference. UCF dropped the 2nd game of the season two Friday ago. Ugh. Cincy had the home crowd behind them.

In the SEC, what an upset of South Carolina over Georgia. I watched that game. It was close. Amazing win that really shacks up the SEC race. Gators play S.Car this weekend. Ummm...
MUSCHAMPS REVENGE!

I haven't watched Bama game yet. Just highlights. Tua lighting it up. Prob Heisman is his.

Watched Oklahoma Texas game. That was a close game also. Oklahoma does look pretty good yet again.

Clemson is Clemson. They will finish undefeated. Top 4. Prob 2nd best option to win it other than Wiscy.

I'm really impressed with Wisconsin. Watched bits and pieces. A well oiled machine. Offense and Defense.

LSU of course. Watched the Gator LSU game. That was a fun game to watch. I was pulling for LSU just so I can say both UCF and UF played LSU with a backup Qb and lost. UCF by 8 points, Gators by 14. TRANSITIVE PROPERTY WORKS IN FOOTBALL BRAGGING RIGHTS.... ;P

Since you guys probably don't watch the American Conf (UCF's). SMU is currently undefeated for the year and looks like the team to beat in conference. Prob gonna be them and Cincy and SMU in conference champ game. Temple just knocked off once unbeaten Memphis. UCF really needs to win out and Cincy drop two games to have chance to be in Champ game. Otherwise who wants to play UCF in a lower tier bowl game? They gonna lose whoever it is.

Yeah for football season. Games on tonight (Thursday).

UCLA beat Stanford last night. Although both teams suck, they are both very young. UCLA Qb looked Michael Vick'ish last night. He is pretty good and fun to watch.

What a day. I love college football season. Wisconsin was just so close. FSU is doomed to failure. Georgia tech is just having a terrible year. UCF has had so much success that when they have a good season that's not perfect it looks like a failure.

Two more weekends before first CFP poll comes out:

"The first 2019 College Football Playoff rankings will be released on the evening of Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2019."

Tua looks to be back for LSU but I think LSU takes it. If the gators can do to Georgia what South Carolina did, and that depends on Fromm choking again, there could be the SEC championship rematch in a neutral site with UF defense fully staffed and healthy.

UCF became bowl eligible last night at 6-2 by throttling @Temple 62-21. Houston @UCF next Saturday, noon kickoff.

Oklahoma goes down to Kstate. Ohio State says Wisconsin who? LSU tight win over auburn. Miami in snorefest win over @Pitt.

Yup. You've got bragging rights. At Pitt also. Impressive. I was down in ft lauderdale watching that game at a sports bar full of cane fans. A sad bunch. Not much cheering.

There is very slightly more than absolute zero, to brag about with The U's football season ... and this who lost to who, by how much, an't part of it.

Well. Saturday is coming and the cocktail party in Jacksonville with it. Will the gators be the same team that beat auburn or will they be the team that almost lost to Miami.

Games i'm interesting in this week

Thursday night: WVU @ #12 Baylor, Georgia Southern @ #20 Appy State

Friday night: Navy gonna run all over Uconn

Saturday:

Houston at UCF Noon. College football in our backyard. I'll be there. Hoping for a UCF blow out. UCF may creep back into top 25 with a win.
#8 Georgia #6 Florida 3:30.
Miami @FSU 3:30
#15 SMU at #24 Memphis ESPN College Gameday in Memphis. Is undefeated SMU for real?

Both LSU and Bama have a bye week before their battle of the titans matchup next weekend. Will Tua be healthy?!?

Got that right! Too bad the Knights suck on the road (Temple game was headed down that path too until they rediscovered how explosive their offense can be). Hardest part is both UCF losses were close and would've likely been wins at home. Bounce House and the fans are definitely their 12th man. Predicting Memphis smokes an overrated SMU team tomorrow too.

Considering how poorly FSU played, The U should have scored twice as many points as they did. To a degree, a win is a win and I will take this one. But, damn I wish that I was seeing much more growth and progress with the team through the season.

You could take ALL of the defensive players on BOTH of SMU and Memphis and combine them into one squad .... and they would be at best an average Power 5 defense. While offense is fun to watch .... those are two horrible defenses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Speaking of horrible defense. The Gators get brought back down to earth. I too had them playing LSU in the playoffs for the SEC after LSU took out Bama. This is what happens when you think with your heart and not your head. The Gators played like they were beat from the beginning. The score was brought close but that is misleading. They played terribly.

My Gators went into the preseason bragging about their "best in the country" DBs. They have been exposed time after time, leaving receivers wide open at critical times. (Or, they turn out to have been critical after they run unimpeded to the end zone.) The rush was almost nonexistent, but, they only rushed three most of the game and the running game is pretty much a non-factor except to (attempt) to keep the other team's D-line honest. And, Mullen makes some "say what???" decisions each game, like sending Jones in on a critical drive for a play or two which kills all momentum. It's like he has a brain fart, then recovers. That said, I expected them to lose to Auburn, too, at the beginning of the season. So, we are ahead of the game all told. I hope Mullen matures as a head coach though. He's had 10 years experience, so, we'll see if that happens or if we settle into 10-2 every year.

If Dan Mullen goes 10-2 every year at FL you wouldn't be happy and you wouldn't consider him mature enough...? Bahahah! Ya'll were just (5 years ago) taking losses to teams like Georgia Southern in "theswamp".. I would be happy with ten wins if I were you LMAO

Willie Taggart didn't even get two years. LOL. Don't cry for him as he is now owed a 17 million dollar buy out.

FSU raised about $20 million in private donations to buy out what was left of Taggart's contract, sources told ESPN's Mark Schlabach. However, an FSU official denied that the money was raised for Taggart's buyout.

Under the terms of Taggart's six-year, $30 million contract, FSU's athletic department will owe him 85% of his remaining compensation through Jan. 31, 2024, which is between $17 million and $18 million. The Seminoles also paid Oregon a $3 million buyout when it hired him away from the Ducks in December 2017, as well as the remaining $1.3 million of a buyout that Oregon owed South Florida when it hired him in December 2016.

The first CFP poll comes out on Tuesday. Currently there are 4 teams from the American that are in the top 25 and none are UCF! SMU, NAVY, Memphis, and Cinci are in top 25. Although I think UCF is the best team in the American it is interesting to see others get respect.

How am I delusional? UCF has improved thru the year with their freshman qb. Only conference loss was @Cinci and that was their superbowl. We lost 27-24 @cinci and if that game would be played again UCF would win.

Cinci had to kick a last second field goal to barely beat ECU this past weekend 46-43. UCF wiped the map when we played ECU and killed them. I've watched the games. UCF is the best team right now in the American.

Teams improve thru the year, some get worse. Sorry you don't see that. Every team except Cinci in the American has at least one loss. After watching the ECU vs Cinci game I'm convinced Cinci will not go undefeated. UCF will go undefeated the rest of the year and win the bowl game.

Tell me who you think is the best team in the American conference right now?

Keep in mind ECU is 3-6 with wins over Gardner-Webb, William & Mary, and ODU. 3 High School Teams. Yet they took the #17 Cinci bearcats to the final kick of the play. When UCF played ECU a couple weeks ago it was 35-0..at half time...

Cincinnati: The Bearcats' five-game winning streak appeared over in a wave of 12 penalties and a season-worst 117 penalty yards and an inability to stop Ahlers. The team came to life just in time to preserve their highest national ranking since 2009 and keep their league title and Cotton Bowl hopes alive.

"The great thing is, hopefully we got a wake-up call," Fickell said. "Obviously, this league is really good and we've got to be prepared and we've got to do a better job and we've got to grow if we want to be at the top if this league at some point in time. We've got a ways to go."

Besides .... you have already admitted that using your "reasoning" that The U is a better team than UCF.

I said I think UCF is the best team in the American conference. You called me delusional for that. Just showing you why I think that. you can call it circular reasoning all you want. Have fun with it.

Miami may be better than UCF. They are definitely improving also. By them going to @Pitt and winning was impressive. UCF couldn't do it. I really don't know why you call me delusional. Plus, you never said who YOU think is the best team in the American conference? If you going to call me delusional on that, at least back it up.

I do have to hope Cinci loses two games coming up so UCF can make it to the Conf champ game though. So, hoping they do suck and are going down. They have UCONN, USF, Temple, & Memphis left.

Delusional? Here we go again. They have two losses..yep their achilles heel has been the road this season..they got their wake up call and definitely aren't a top 15 team this year.

But if you don't think the Knights are the best team in the AAC you're not paying attention. Simple as that. Watch some AAC games, google some stats for crying out loud. Or keep riding the ignorance train..

I can't wait to see if I'm right about LSU being the best. Bama and LSU are going to score a lot. Should be excellent. I think UF takes vandy but they have a way of playing up for the gators. Tennessee and Kentucky are about the same this year. That being said, I hope Kentucky hurts Tennessee's feelings and forces Tennessee to hire a coach that can actually get them to at least an 8 win season. Georgia will probably not crush mizzou but will win. Penn state will crush Minnesota and their gravy train ends. UCF will win on three overtimes against Tulsa. I think Miami takes Louisville because it can't amount to much. Temple defeats USF and picks the scab off the head coaching wound and making Charlie strong look weak.

Yep ..... Keys to picking winners:

- Pick with your head and not your heart. It is not about who you want to win but who you think will win (based on impartial observation and understanding of the teams and the game) I will pick against my alma mater if it involves money or winning a contest.

- There will be upsets, you just have to find and pick them .... using your head per above. Vegas & oddsmakers are very very good but not infallible.

What I have been trying to get through to you for YEARS is that you are too deeply immersed in a "fans" perspective and "logic" That being when you give far to much credence to any and all factors that favor your team and far to little to those that don't.

I go Boone North Carolina often and so I keep up with the mountaineers successes. They are known to upset big teams. Their school is very small by comparison but they are a great team.

Ponder this. If that asshat number 69 from Bama didn't needlessly subject his team to a half the distance to the goal line penalty just before the half with seconds to go, LSU probably wouldn't have scored again before the half. That score turned out to be very important.

The U waited until the 11th game of the season to play their most complete game of the year. It was a total team effort. .... completely and totally embarrassing.

It was an unprecedented debacle. Beaten in every phase of the game by an FBS team. It is one thing to get badly beaten by a D1 team, but a fucking FBS team!! Worst loss in decades. Historically pathetic.

I am sure that Butch Davis enjoyed that glass of fine bourbon late last night ... he deserved it.

LBLARRY, I'm glad you are catching on. Keep watching college football. It is how it is done. People decide on who is best team rather than results on the field. Why does Athletic Directors and presidents and ex-coaches of 'Power 5' teams get to determine who is best? Why doesn't my opinion matter? It doesn't just like you make fun of. So why does EVEN MORE biased people get to select? For sure FIU beating Miami makes them the better team. Now using the transitive property we can determine who is the best 4 teams that should be in a playoff. Nevermind a team is undefeated for two years in a row and doesn't sniff a playoff (aka UCF 2017/2018). What a joke when the CFP poll first came out that Clemson wasn't top 4. But somehow they are now. Who did they play in the meantime? Oh, other teams lost. So stupid. They really need to drop the biased opinions and 'eye test' on determining who gets in. Go to conference champions and do a real playoff. Not an invitational.

But, Whatever. Its college football. Thanks for attempting to point out my obvious biased opinions. I'm not hiding it. Its just funny that others do. Sorry your team lost also. FIU turning some heads. FAU beat FIU 37-7 last week. So you can say FAU is also better than Miami this year.

Rivalry Week is here! Some big games coming up.

(CNN)Ole Miss went from potentially tying the game against Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl last night to an embarrassing one-point loss thanks to the antics of wide receiver Elijah Moore.

Moore caught a two-yard touchdown pass from Rebels quarterback Matt Corral with four seconds remaining to bring the game within one point.
However, what would've been an easy chip shot field goal for Ole Miss kicker Luke Logan to tie the game was pushed back to field goal range after Moore was flagged for his touchdown celebration.

Moore got down on all fours and lifted his leg to imitate a dog peeing, which triggered a 15-yard penalty on the ensuing play.

Went to the UF-FSU game last night

The Good: It was nice to finally start a W streak against the Noles again. The Swamp was rocking!!!

The Bad: I missed this swell! I was secretly hoping it would be just a 3-ft swell, but it looks like CFL scored again

I would love it Charlie came back to UF as defensive coordinator. Bama with two losses looks like they had their run and now it's done. I was impressed with Auburn. LSU and Ohio state will be a great match up. Should be some very interesting bowl match ups.

Felipe saw that the 2nd string did more and did better than he ever would have. He has a brother that plays in the NFL. Looks exactly like him. He wants to get his shot at the NFL and it's a lot less likely sitting on the bench for the remainder of his college career.

I was tailgating at UF last year and my sons who are middle schoolers were tossing the football. We saw who we thought was Felipe walk by. He looks almost exactly like his brother. My smart ass son threw him the football and ask him to throw back if could throw it without getting intercepted. Luckily, the guy had enough of a sense of humor to let a certain 13 year old smart ass have his wisecrack and didn't launch their football across the street and far away. I apologized as he went by and he said "no worries."

Big implications in tonight's (Friday) game. #5 Utah sitting on the outside of the top 4. If they win tonight, can they be put in top 4. Utah? Does the CFP want a Utah in the playoffs?

What if Georgia beats LSU? Does LSU still stay in top 4?

For me, I'm pulling for chaos and the underdogs. Georgia over LSU, Virginia over Clemson,

Oklahoma at #6. What if they win? They jump Utah and into top 4? Oh yeah, hoping for Wisconsin to take out the Buckeyes also! (probably just cursed them though)

The funnest game to watch yesterday was the AAC championship game. Memphis over Cinci. Went down to the final play. Memphis wins! On to the NY6 game.

Does Norvell coach in that bowl game? Like Scott Frost did after he left UCF?

LSU dominant. Clemson killed. Ohio State over Wiscy. Oklahoma over Baylor. That is prob your top 4.

Yes, LSU Dominated.

And, well, , , , the other week, at the drinking hole, one of the "non-southern" types was ragging on about how he was sick of Alabama ruling and such, and complaining that it was all some sort of conspiracy that the likes of Ohio, Nebraska, Oklahoma, et al, were always getting a bumm deal by not being ranked higher, , , , ,!

"Ya, all of that could matter but, as long as they are not playing in the ACC or the SEC, none of that could ever matter."

He was not very pleased by my remark, , , ,! LOL. LOL

UCF ends season in the top 25. Well deserved at #24. Finishes the season with a bowl win over Marshall and 10-3. 2020 season looks pretty good. We lost a couiple coaches but added some good up-n-comers. Freshman Qb moves up a one year who broke all freshman Qb records at UCF including Daunte Culpepper. Randy Shannon still DC. Josh Heupel rumors of going to Baylor are just that rumors. We coming back in 2020. (knock on wood)

I think Minnesota and Penn State should be switched. Minnesota beat Penn State along with both teams winning their bowl game. Gophers against Auburn, Penn State against Memphis.

Gators at #6 is encouraging for them going into next year.

4 American conference teams in top 25. Navy, Memphis, Cincinnati, UCF. What is up with this stupid power 5 group of 5 division. So stupid. They need to drop that crap. it ruins college football in my opinion, especially since my team is looked at as inferior due to it. IT IS NOT FAIR.

Appy State. Watch out for them.

Texas with 5 losses. I guess beating Utah in the bowl game helped them, but they were not that impressive this year. Utah neither. Playing in weak pac12.

LSU was probably the best college football ever. Hard to dispute 15-0 and running thru the SEC like they did then beating Clemson who hasn't lost in two years.

Joe Burrow with the Heisman...So sorry that he has to go ruin his career at the Bengals.

Wish Dolphins could get him.

That concluded 2020 College Football season . 150 years of this crap.

Go Knights!

Well again, while at The Drinking Hole watching the first half of last night's game, it came to the point when a transplant from up North started going off about being fed up with "Southern" football and the "Polls" that disrespected all the Good teams like Ohio, N Dame, and such. I really got him worked up when I told him that all of that was only interesting and that IF such teams really wanted to be recognized, they should play in the ACC and the SEC. He was damn ready to move to a different seat!!! Ha Ha, LOL, LOL!

There are 130 Div 1 NCAA teams. 126 of those team's fans hate the current system every year! The 4 team invitational playoff does seem slanted, and it is.

I wish they would go to a NFL model and have a playoff where you have to win your conference to get in. That would make it more interesting in my opinion.

It was way more interesting in the old days. It is impossible to get a true national champion that nobody argues about. No matter how many teams there are, the first team left out bitches about it (legitimately). Basketball started with eight, then 16, etc and now they are at about 68 and still teams bitch. There just isn't enough difference between team 4 and team 5 or team 8 and team 9 or team 68 and team 69 to objectively leave them out. When I was younger all the conferences had a tie in to a bowl and teams were happy to be going there because they had to be a champ to get there (or at least very highly thought of, the exception being ND, but, don't get me started on them!). Now, as you say, only four teams are happy and only four fan bases support the bowls. Who cares if there is a no. 1? In the days of the AP (writers) and UPI (coaches), it was not unusual to have two no. 1 teams and both teams were happy. We fans paid attention no matter where our team went because we were happy to be going to a major bowl; it meant something. Plus, the big orgy of football starting on New Year's Eve (Sugar Bowl) and ending on NY night (Orange Bowl) was an event. People stopped by, you had a big spread and you clicked back and forth between games. None of that happens now. We watch them alone and are pissed off that our team "only" went to the Sugar Bowl (or whatever). It TRULY was better.

BTW, Dave, "especially since my team is looked at as inferior due to it" says it all. Methinks you would be more than happy if UCF had gone to the Big 12 and they were in the mix AND you wouldn't have given a crap about any of the teams left behind. The real problem is with the idea that we need a "true" no. 1. It cannot happen unless we scrap all of the conferences and the history of college football and start a playoff system at the beginning of the year. This system SUCKS because the premise behind it is totally f-ed up.

I was a college football fan before I went to UCF. My dad played for woodie hayes at Ohio State and was president of the alumni association. Thus, I lived it. Going to UCF in the 80s the football team was Div 1AA. They then went Div 1a and I've seen the mountain top from the valley. Now that UCF is in the mix but still can't get to the Apex I have a unique view on why. ESPN propaganda. It works. They keep repeating how conferences are inferior to others. Its been ingrained and is a unconscious biased that is stuck with people. Sort of like when you always think a Doctor or Airline pilot is Male. I still get stabs from 2017's UCF National Championship claim. My retort is "WHO BEAT US? and what other sport do you go undefeated but end up #7?" That usually works unless you are talking to a Bama fan. I then have to tell them they were selected and didn't even win their division in their conference. Don't matter to them though. They think they earned it, BUT AGAIN, LOST. UCF didn't. But, whatever, I'm glad UCF is in the mix and in people's head. I hope we go undefeated again in 2020 to shake up the system. It needs shaking. Its boring seeing the same ole teams in the 4 team invitational due to they are teams that have more fans than anyone else.

NCAA basketball can have a tournament with 68 teams (and there are still unhappy schools at not getting in), NCAA football cannot. There have been lots of undefeated teams who played a second tier schedule and were not rewarded for it (e.g., Penn St in the 60s and 70s) . I know it is frustrating, but, the AAC (and, I would argue the ACC) do not have first tier competition. The good teams in those conferences play 3 or 4 tough games a year which is a TREMENDOUS advantage. It allows extra time to plan/practice and recover from injuries for those tough games. Just ask Booby Bowden. Everybody pointed to his out of conference games, but, those were the ONLY games that presented any challenge to them. His conference was comprised of a bunch of basketball schools and he could walk thru them while prepping for Miamuh, UF and, occasionally, a third good team. My argument is that we should give up this quest to come up with a system that everybody accepts. It is just not possible. You just can't get enough teams in without destroying college footbal. I am NOT defending the BCS by any means. IT SUCKS. If we didn't have this crap system, you could be very happy with UCF's success instead of spending so much energy beefing about a terrible system. We would all be much happier. And, sorry to say, going undefeated does NOT make a team National Champ. Get over it. It is only a marketing slogan, like "Make America Great Again". It has NO basis in reality or objectivity.

NCAA football cannot? Sure they can. FCS NCAA football has been doing it for Decades.
Lookee here:
http://www.ncaa.com/brackets/football/fcs/2019

Also, The BCS is dead. And, the one and only year UCF was in a BCS conference, it won the BCS bowl game and went 12-1. Beat Big12 Champion and beat Baylor in 2014 Fiesta Bowl.

And, btw, UCF went undefeated TWO YEARS IN A ROW (2017/2018) and still didn't sniff the CFP invitational playoff.

Also, btw, the All time series between UCF and Bama is on UCF side. 1-0. Also, the last time UCF played Bama, Auburn, AND Georgia...UCF won.

But, somehow, we are inferior due perception.

That is why I'm pulling for another undefeated season for 2020. The system needs to change. People's unconscious biased really hurts Cinderella teams like UCF. It is fed by ESPN and the power brokers. I just showed you results on the field (WHICH SHOULD MATTER THE MOST) vs perception that other teams are better. I'll stick with this reality thanks.

Put this in your pipe and smoke it also.

NCAA recognizes UCF's national championship in addition to Alabama's
Updated Mar 07, 2019;Posted Aug 27, 2018

UCF, after all the pomp and circumstance, is a national champion.

According to the 2018 record book released last week, the Knights are listed - with Alabama as a team that finished the season No. 1.

https://www.al.com/sports/2018/08/ncaa_recognizes_ucfs_national.html

Thus, Put an asterisk on it, but Co-National Champions.

I fully support UCF claim for a national Championship in 2017 and proud they stuck a thorn in the unjust system. In 2018 after we went undefeated, our Heisman candidate Qb got hurt the week before the conference championship game. If he was healthy I'm pretty convinced we could have beaten LSU in 2019 Fiesta Bowl. We only lost to LSU by a touchdown with a freshman Qb starting his 2nd game. Yes, UCF was that good in 2017 and 2018. The problem the national media wasn't watching UCF. I was. The 2017 team was one of the best football teams I've ever watched. Yes, I'm biased I admit that, but can't dispute undefeated along with beating Auburn in the bowl game. Auburn just happened to have beat the two teams that were in the CFP invitational game, Georgia vs Bama. UCF ook a step back in 2019. But, dear football gawds, will be back on top in 2020. (prob just cursed UCF with that)

Onto college basketball, and NFL final games.

Ok, one more... Look at the final AP top 25. Perceptions are changing.

There are 4 American teams in the top 25. UCF, Navy, Cinci, and Memphis. How many ACC teams? One, Clemson. How many Big12 teams? 2. Oklahoma & Texas (should not be top 25 w/5 losses). Pac12? 2, Oregon & Utah (wasn't too long ago the Utes weren't in a 'power 5' conference) & Why is Utah ranked so much higher than Texas? Didn't I just watch Texas woop up on them 38-10?

In other words, drop the polls, expand the playoffs and let results on the field determine the National Champion.

Who's the ONLY FL team to be ranked inside the Top 25 the last three consecutive seasons?

Hint: It's the same team that "woke" the mighty Joe Burrow and the LSU Tigers

The times they are a changin'

There is now a 3,000 person waiting list to buy season tix for UCF. this is from another orlando sentiinel article from today:

UCF averaged an announced crowd of 43,388 fans during its six home games last season, with Spectrum Stadium at 99% capacity, according to NCAA figures.

White and his staff have been looking at ways to accommodate the increasing ticket demand at a stadium that currently has a seating capacity of 44,206.

"I'm still working behind-the-scenes on plans to expand the stadium," said White. "It's the next step in our growth as a football program."
