So yeah, 4 years ago but not so long ago that it is not culturally relevant to current times. Meanwhile, we socially crucify people and ruin their careers and lives over stupid things they said a decade or more ago, often times when it was accurate of socially acceptable culture at that time. Sure some things, no matter when they are said, should be looked upon with disdain, but we don't even give people the benefit of the doubt that they have grown and changed 10 or more years later. With that said, why did the NYT times stand behind this sorry excuse for a human being? Why are you bringing institutional racism into the conversation when I was clearly referring to individual racism. Anyone can be racist towards another race regardless of where they happen to live.

If you live in Texas and hate Hispanics (especially Mexicans), you don't suddenly stop becoming a racist just because you move 15 miles south to the other side of the border.

Regarding systemic racism, however, you are barking up the wrong tree in directing that towards me. I have a long post history going back years showing that I know and understand that it exists. Let's revisit how Miker and Jonny approached that Philadelpia Starbucks case. Miker and Jonny said those guys were being assholes and loitering after being asked to leave. They even questioned the guys' story about being their to meet a business associate. They ignored the general culture around Starbucks as a public space too. But the people that were there said that the guys asked for the bathroom key and then sat down and that was it. The people that were there said that a jogger came in and used the bathroom without buying anything. The people that were there said that multiple people were just hanging around for extended periods. The guy they were meeting about real estate showed up in the video. But Miker and Johnny just doubled right on down with the assumption that these guys made some kind of scene.
