None of us have filed our taxes under the new tax plan, so it seems like this article should have been written in April or May.
If you are in a state with high property taxes and high state taxes, then you may have some issues but the rest of the country has been subsidizing them for quite a while. Also, the standard deduction doubled under this plan.

The increase of the standard deduction is tied with reduction in the personal and dependent exemptions. When you make lots of money exemptions don't matter that much toward the total bill. But they matter to lower income people. Here is an example:

HOWEVER, child tax credits are calculated differently... I haven't quite completed my taxes but my effective rate is down slightly. We are also tired of places like Amazon who have full time employees that still do not make a living wage and are reliant on welfare to make end meet. We have all these CEO's that are billionaires, yet they have FT employees on welfare - that's fucked that I am paying for that. 70% marginal on highest earners is coming - the majority of the public both dem and rep OVERWHELMINGLY support it.

Thus, we have these people, by their own free will, choosing to work at Amazon. If you resent paying them welfare, I suggest that you speak to your representatives and tell them to decrease those benefits. While you are at it, you might tell them to cut off illegals altogether. Anyway, it is this kind of ignorance that leads to these hare-brained schemes by politicians who assume that their constituents are too dumb to understand what's going on. They changed the withholding rules without any notification and some 30 million people will be on the hook and out of pocket. Not only is there no extra refund cash for that much needed vacation, now they will have to did deep for an extra $1,000, $1,500 or $2,000 that they now owe to the IRS.

They also changed SALT - which is what is really biting people in the ass. I will be sure to post how much I will end up owing, once again. i agree. sadly most people cant connect the dots. happy for the bigger pay check, but angry at tax time without realizing the two are related. worse for married folks if they had a spouse switch a bracket and didnt adjust accordingly. could end up having to pay a bunch at tax time and never realize they paid less tax overall for the year.
