Oh Beto can F all the way off.

But I am curious how this plays with Americans.

"Households making less than $30,000 per year would pay $25; those making less than $40,000 would pay $57; those making less than $50,000 would pay $98; those making less than $75,000 would pay $164; those making less than $100,000 would pay $270; those making less than $200,000 would pay $485; and those making more than $200,000 would pay $1,000.
"This new tax would serve as a reminder of the incredible sacrifice made by those who serve and their families," O'Rourke's plan says."

I'd pay it. But I also expect a decrease in the military budget. The amount we pay is absurd! Take even a portion of it and put it in infrastructure and our country prospers.

Why not let those that profit from killing pay for all of it?

If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you've got a business, you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen."

Let Halliburton and Blackwater pay the war tax. Let Lockheed and General Dynamics, and all the others who profit from keeping the world at war pay for it.

There's been no credible military threat to the USA since the 1940s. Everything else was adventurism and imperialism.

Beto would serve the cause much better running for Senate or something.

It would seem that if everyone was billed directly by the DoD, rather than using the IRS's credit card, wars might be somewhat less popular.

And how much money gets sucked away that we have no clue about?

We spent $700 billion a year on the military during the Iraq war, but that had nothing to do with the cost of the war itself. Poof, the money is just gone.

I was right.

I'd much rather pay off all student loan debt and establish a national universal healthcare system. That would be a much better use of our money than corporate welfare for defense industries.

On one hand, make the cost of war more tangible to all voters. Okay, makes a little sense. On the other hand this smells like the king jacking taxes on the colonies to pay for his war with France. The colonists rebelled against that shit. You want to pay for war? Let Exxon, Apple, GE, et al. pay for it. You can't get much revenue by taxing 90% of the people it that 90% only holds 10% of the wealth.

Beto is a DINO, but at least he's not a rapist like the GOP president.
