If you are checking in via smart phone, my suggestion is go to the land of V. Dawn patrol or Lunchtime Where ya goin' Friday????? Gonna be BIG, and the wave train continues. BIG SURF PICTURE 2/12/14 Wednesday The Jet lost it's ‘Tokyo Express’ a couple weeks ago (that long deep extension to near HI landed us in Extra Large swell trains for a month) with most the action to our NNW and N. This continues a couple more days, however, it looks as though a zonal or west to east Jet kicks in on Valentines Day (you gotta love it). This should lead to our 1st fat WNW in awhile (read below). Recently our large upper air current (jet) is trying to come off Japan but its blocked by a big persistent blocking High pressure to our NW. This High will also bring more stable trade weather for a few days. The Jet bounces up and over this High near the dateline above the Aleutians. There's troughiness over the Island from the Eastern Jet Branch which extends NNE all the way to the West coast and inland. The High is slowly migrating Eastward N of the Islands. February will not deliver like Dec and Jan and this means the Giant days are pau unless things change drastically. Currently, we had a nice 4-6+ NNW that came Tuesday and is still hovering at 6' 13 seconds but the swell died out all day. The source was a gale low spinning up near the gulf with its long fetch in the eastern Aleutians last weekend. Next: An upgraded round of much bigger NNW is on tap for Friday in the above advisory category (20+' faces or 12' local). The long fetch is on the charts in the 340-350 band Tuesday 2/11-12th nosing to within 800 miles off. This Low gets some 20' seas and should equate into triple to quadruple overhead peaking Friday. Buoys should read 9' 14 sec swells. Next: Another Low centered in the same region or 1200-1500 miles to our N tracks off to the west coast sending most its energy there. However, with a wide long fetch on Valentines day it should push the surf back up 5-7' from the NNW Sunday. There's a chance of higher. Next: A gale or 40kt storm tracks along the west to east Aleutians Friday-Sunday nearly 2000 miles away. We could see some 6-8+' NNW filling tuesday with some reinforcement Wednesday from the NW at about the same size. NExt: finally a WNW. A storm tracks our way off Japan Sunday the 15th with 30 seas into Monday. The unique aspect of this Low is that it stays put all the way to Tuesday. When storm 'occludes' it allow for the system to broaden and seas to heighten. This fetch noses to the dateline Tuesday when the Low finally starts and East track while weakening. We look good for solid 8-12+' with trades and Pipe to fire again Friday dawn to dusk and even 8-12+' into Saturday the 22nd. Last: model fantasy hint at a smaller Low from off Japan next Thursday the 20th...we could see a 5-7' NW filling Monday 2/24. Long range forecasts subject to 'sharp U Turns' as Pat Caldwell likes to say. Edited: 02/13/2014 at 09:27 AM by SurferMic |

Looks like the forecast did increase. 6 am now. Headed to take some pics. If it's really 20' faces, as forecast says, we're gonna head to west side to a secret spot my buddy said gets all time.
