Former Ocala City Manager Paul Nugent, 56


Nugent was with friends surfing around the Crawford Approach around 7 p.m. when his friends said he complained about not feeling well and fell off his board.

They rushed Nugent to shore, struggling to perform CPR in the water.

Rescuers took over the CPR and Nugent was rushed to the hospital but did not survive.

Paul was a good friend.

One of the truly good guys in the world. Always upbeat, with a smile for all. Loved by everyone that knew him.

Widely respected in his profession, he had managed to retire young and enjoy life in NSB.

I will miss him.
