Disclaimer first: yes, I should of listened to the posts here about this guy. Yes, I got scammed by Josh. Fortunate for me I was able to recover my money but it wasn't until after I had to seek legal advice on how to do this. I know off others who were scammed as well. Anybody with law enforcement knowledge might be able to help with any other actions that are applicable.

Rick, it was a factory in Brevard making boards under several labels. I ordered a SUP as I wasn't too concerned with the shape. Thanks for the referral but I'm very good friends with several here in South Fl. Important lesson learned was to read the terms and conditions of your credit card (the box you always check and move on with). I was screwed on a technicality that I disputed and was lucky to have reversed in my favor.

Hard to stay open when you sell boards for what it cost to make them.

insurance
Blank
Resin
cloth
paint
tape
acetone
airbrusher
glasser
sander
fin plugs
electricity
rent
shipping
accounts manager

Surfboards aren't cheap.

But if you're collecting moneys and are telling your customers that
funds are frozen, that right there sounds shady for some reason

And yes, whomperoom, aside from being a great attorney, he's also
really freaking cool and thinks outside the box.

He also like to have a good time.

I would like to know how much profit he was making off each board. As a backyard shaper, I spend about $300 for a basic epoxy shortboard. So before I figured he could cut costs by $50-$75 by buying in bulk and make an alright profit. But I just realized he had his boards cut by a cnc machine, which would add back an additional $50 to the cost I believe (I have never received a quote to get one cut but have heard it's around that price). So after factoring that in, I don't see how he was making money at all when you factor in all of the other non-board related costs(rent, employees, utilities, etc.).

The thing is, investors don't just give you enough to barely scrape by
So it seems odd

yes bus -
josh was the one who got cj fired then ran unitedride/surfhouse into the ground.
ive never seen anyone collectively piss off everyone in the surf community in so little time... im talking shapers, builders, suppliers, vendors, shops, even customers... it usually takes years to get such a bad reputation in our industry ...

i feel bad for anyone who didnt know and got swindled out of their cash...

remember if it sounds to good to be true- it probably is not true!
-new pro boards 299$ w choice of fcs/ future 5 fin or the
great -12 boards for 69$ a month? really? hahahaha...
how many mommies and daddies fell for that scheme to hook lil jr up
so he could be the next ripper from brevard?
just my opinion ..but what do i know ?

A do it all person - shape, paint glass, sand - can build boards relatively cheap.

Churning out numbers of quality boards requires a group of skilled craftsmen who like to get paid for the work they do.

Even doing it all isn't cheap.
It's still about $200/board of you've already got
all the crafting tools and crafting supplies.

The blank and resin alone are the two most expensive
items.... A barrel of resin is what? $800+???

Nothing is cheap about surfboard building
And screwing people isn't cheap either if there are attorneys involved

Not too far off of what Brian Tudor was charging me per board. Too bad he moved (good for him though!), he shaped my favorite sticks. Usually around $350 a board.
