I suppose it is a cool idea.

BUTT I heard there were a couple of electric surfboards out at a popular spot, a spot that requires alot of paddling to get to the peak, this past swell. So while everyone else is paddling to jockey for a spot these guys are lying on their boards pushing a button to stay in position. Apparently don't even have to paddle into the wave?? Bullshit I say.

IMHO, any sort of surfing that involves any more than using human energy to match waves generated by the wind is a fail (as surfing)

OK, maybe tow ins are not, because those waves can't be ridden any other way...

Two things up front; I bet these cost way tooooo much for what you get. Secondly if a guy can't paddle; how in the hell can he drop in, bottom turn, etc.? Locals would enforce these kooks into submission if they showed up

But of course, they don't call it a surfboard, nor show any wave surfing in the vid.

It's just a small stand-up powerboat.

Secondly if a guy can't paddle; how in the hell can he drop in, bottom turn, etc.? Probably not very well but when has that stopped people from surfing.

Locals would enforce these kooks into submission if they showed up. Apparently not.

If the foot placement could be moved back the maneuverability would be greatly improved, way too far from the tail;

Wave Jet surfboards seem awesome to someone that has a serious shoulder issue or issues, gotta help keep you in the surf game and off your belly

But, when the battery is exhausted, you can do interval training, alternating between paddling for a late drop at Peahi and going nowhere fast...

What fun is a wakeboard without a wake?
