Surfed Sunset sessions from Thurs through Sun.
The river is way up from all the rain and lots of grass, mangrove pods and debri are flowing out along with a lot of jellies. Also read about 5.5 million gallons of semi treated waste water released into turkey creek. Starting to feel an ear infection coming on. Anyone else get one or any other contamination issue? |

Shartfood has had some issues. He's been wearing earplugs. He surfed the same days, but midway between both inlets.
Probably huge amounts of dog crap runoff and pesticides/fertilizers in the overflow drains coming right into our river and ocean. ------------------------- If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate. |

Sure does make not fertilizing all summer seem kinda useless... Surfed the inlet Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning with no residual health issues. ------------------------- Replace turf grass with native plants that don't need irrigation and synthetic fertilizers or chemicals that can go into our waterways and ocean Edited: 09/30/2014 at 12:07 PM by daner |

Yeah I had the ear plugs in, but that was so I did not have to listen to Darma talk about how good his turns are getting.

I have been dealing with major ear issues the last month that Everytime I would surf few days in a row my right ear would feel total clogged.I have been using drops from Walgreens for swimmers ear that you use right after you surf and it drys up a soggy ear..It helps a lot.Thought about ear plugs but hate using them in the water.... ------------------------- Learn to read a buoy and check your winds and tides!!! |

daner - just to compare a 4.5M gal sewage discharge to fertilizer use: 4.5M gals at 35mg/L nitrogen content would put about 1400 lbs of nitrogen in the Lagoon About 17,000 tons of fertilizer are applied in Brevard annually. If only 1% of the nitrogen from that fertilizer reaches the Lagoon, you're talking 68,000 lbs. No comparison. Support the Ban. And yes, there is a dire need to upgrade our sewage treatment plants, in terms of both capacity and level of treatment.

Absolutely support the ban and have a Save the Lagoon bumper sticker on my car. My yard is low maintenance with little grass and mostly native plants. Never use fertilizers or pesticides. ------------------------- Replace turf grass with native plants that don't need irrigation and synthetic fertilizers or chemicals that can go into our waterways and ocean |

Quit blaming it on dog poo. Dog poo is NOT the problem.
------------------------- My golden retriever surfs too! |

Is it true that the poo poo plant in Palm Bay has been dumping effluent (untreated) during the recent downpours? |

yes, they had a spill of 4-5M gal last week due to the heavy rain no further discharge that I'm aware of sampling shows back to normal for coliform counts as of yesterday so postings should be down ------------------------- add a signature since I'm here in profile anyway |
