I'm watching the Mid Atlantic ESA Regional Contest at the Pier in Nags Head, NC. Frankly, it's the worst contest I've ever witnessed in 5' Offshore surf.

Why? Cause none of the contestants can rip East Coast close-out surf.

It's like none of the contestants have surfed the East Coast before.

It was 5' offshore East Coast Close-out perfection and I would have thought by now...the next generation would get it

I looked at Surfline's Eckner Street and Kill Devil Hill cams today.  Much cleaned-up from yesterday.  Some people in the water.  Same conditions in Brevard, and I think things would be busy.

The cold water (mid to high 50s) might make everyone a bit sluggish.

How does one rip on shore close out waves? if you are such a ripper of those conditions why aren't you up there entering the contest and schooling the other contestants on the finer points of close out ripping.
