While our winters are not even close to being on that level, I love surfing in winter. Something about surfing in a full suit makes you feel invincible and I love the cold water. I'll take an overhead winter swell on a crisp January day over a piss warm July dribble session any day...

I'm out here on the Oregon coast and if you REALLY like cold water this is where you should be. There are good waves most every day and really good ones many days. Of course your Fl 3/2 ain't gonna make it, 5mil is the preferred weight here. I'm amazed at the number of surfers there are here, both male and female. Lot of tuff folks out here. Aloha Bob

It's amazing to see the moves they are pulling in those frigid conditions.

A crisp Florida January, with a 3/2 full

(especially when you could probably get by with a top or shorty)

is a far cry from a crisp NC/NJ January

with a 4/3 gloves boots and hood.

No thanks, I'm done with water that cold.

I think that surfing with a wetsuit is like having sex with a condom. There are times and places when it has to be done but I would definitely prefer no rubber.

jan-feb are my favorite florida surfing months (not because I particularly like a suit, but the conditions), that said I can't handle real cold

I live on Long Island and am tired of the cold. I spend 4 weeks a winter broken up at cocoa beach.Plus the waves here are not as good as cocoa beach.... Its not even close. For the past year Ive been watching both webcams every day to compare the two. When I'm in flofida I get in the water every day the pier is always making some sort of wave at least 8O% of the time...meanwhile I have been back from florida for two months and and went in twice because its so windy here,..the water is 52 still...nobody goes in unless the waves are way above average. I have no problem going in with small waves but I don't like to be the only one in the water at least in florida at the pier theres people in every day. The only advantage to cold water for me is I don't see sharks here ever and in florida I see a lot.
