Kermas loks super fun...like a Trestles that grew a pair.

It looks like the WSL is having issues with Tavarua and their government.

Kinda ironical that they have dropped Trestles ..... the location of Kelly's 1st pro tour win, were he passed Curren for all time tour wins and a place he totally dominated for many years.

Unfortunately never had the oppurtunity to surf Cloudbreak.

Let me guess you've "shredded" Cloudbreak multiple times cuz you were "pro" in the 80s but that came with aloot of dick sucking... am i right..?

Of course Im right.

Cool video. I wonder how the WSL would score that switchfoot 180/360 maneuver?

They will have to toss out the ultra high scores for a single trick since the wave goes for quite awhile and is the same every time. Hopefully the repetition of the wave doesn't turn pro surfing into a game of Horse.

Its one freaking contest. Imagine a venue where the wave is so predictable that you can absolutely perfect a maneuver. That's what it is. Its the biggest shake up since the kook cord.

I see the wave pool as real fun thing to do but...

I see the pool creating a gymnastic type surf contest.

There eventually will be moves that are mandated like in gymnastic.

I see that you will have to complete for example, two rotation moves, two inverted moves,  ect.

Fun but not the essence of surfing

I would consider it to be Olympic surfing. Aerials are all that matter.

Fun but not the essence of surfing

Not good for the ankles, but great for fin gashes. I'm not a spring chicken, but I remember doing airs from excess of energy, and an air reverse, which was a mistake since I didn't do a straight Fletcher air from being so light and just trying to hit the lip. But now, I don't do airs because I don't and I'm 40+ years old. Surfing is different on the pro tour now a days.

But the essence of surfing is recreation, where the working man, recreates his soul in the virtue of Eutrapelia, or recreation for the sake of gaining virtue and recharging human energy.

When surfing is stressful, contentious, anger provoking, oppressive, it becomes an occupation.

Too much or unmoderated "recreation" is no longer recreation but an addiction and a disordered attachment, to a fleeting moment since in the realm of time the now of the now moment is uncatchable but a vain puff of smoke.

If true recreation or sensory enjoyment and friendly fun with others is put aside than the only motivation is ego or vainglory, to show others we still got it. But, to what avail when their opinions are useless?

And if we derive material gain from it, again we arrive at an occupation that has everyone burned out from it at one time or another.

Cloud break is so inconsistent and wind dependant, and only great when epic conditions come together.

Trestles is so weak and mushy.

Brazil does have much money behind it, and there are challenging heavy thick barrels, lips, and tricky conditions, certainly not my favorite, but that's why they push certain people through in some heats when they didn't do that well or underscore them, although they are super amazing surfers like John John (twice really?) and Medina to keep an epic battle between two surfers, to end the race "at Pipe". One is a "Latin" the other a an "Anglo Saxon" to keep people pissed or "passionate", which is actually a vice.

It's partly awesome talent and skill, and partly the marketable face, cool sounding name, popularity, image, to sell sell sell!!!

In all, some geezers are using surfers like disposable billboards for selling moichendise, "You hoid a mee?".

Australia has events because it has endless surfers, a mainstream surf culture, and so many amazing breaks that are almost ineffable to list, many are even secrete.

Bustin down the door!???

Thanks chaps!

But, then again, we always tend to make surfing more than it really is. I know that I did after the first time I ever stood up and "made" a wave.

But, yes, surfing really is more than it is, at least in our own minds, and that is as it should be.

Trestles has been as boring as Brazil IMO for the last couple years. Even though the wave looks fun to ride, I don't think it shows well.

Giving up Cloudbreak sucks. Wonder how they'll score the wave pool.... best of 6 lefts and 6 rights per heat?

Huntington Pier is the one that looks the weakest, other than a money maker, usually it is 2 turns and a chop hop to the inside closeout.
