You can get the same thing in Central America. The only difference is, you can walk home if you had to. That's why I like Costa.

Have you been to Java and surfed G Land? Most likely no. No wave in central america breaks like G Land. Period.

If you made your assessment based on that video, it'd be hard to argue with Slimy. A lot of face time for the monkeys. But that clip doesn't do justice to one of the best waves on Earth. As far as comparisons go, for straight up wave quality Centro:Indo as FL:CA.

I've been to both and there is no comparison. Both have their perks, but the waves are definitely better on average in Indo. It just takes 18+ hours to get there, versus 3 for Costa Rica.

I agree with Greg.  Been to Indo twice and Central America many, many times.  Overall wave quality is better in Indo for sure.  That being said, it takes a very loooonnnnggggg time to get there and get back (over 30 hours of travel time).  Add up all the costs - airfare, boat or camp price, and time off work (10-14 days) and you will be paying a lot for that better wave.  Central America is cheap and easy, especially from Central Florida.  Indo is a magical place and every surfer should try to see it.   My best piece of advice for the Indo trip - do whatever it takes to get into First/Business class.  It makes a HUGE difference.  Get a credit card and start banking the miles asap.  It cost me 100,000 miles to get there and back first class (my ticket price was $12,400 - OUCH).  Get the same card for every family member you can (referral miles) and charge everything they will let you (gas, cellphone, mortgage, insurance, tuition, car payment, etc).  It's not that hard with all the bonus plans and incentives to get the miles.
