I broke my wrist and have a plate. Has anyone else had a broken wrist and plate? How much down time. I start P T in a week.

Broke my wrist wrist twice (snowboarding) but luckily never needed surgery. I'll just say, listen to the docs. I never did (young and dumb) but depending on severity and complications, you'll prob be back at it quicker than other injuries. at least with a wrist, it can be imobilized and you're still functional (Michael Ho won the Pipe Masters with a broken wrist

Yes a solid wrist brace. I think Mr. Ho had a cast. Lived in Hawaii at the time and it was half the front page of the Honolulu Advertiser! I delivered the advertiser and would check the surf on my route, sweet barrelling goodness...

Hope the rehab goes great! You ain't missing anything of course!

Bone heals within 2 months, then is replaced by harder bone. This takes another several months. I'd stay out of the water for at least ~3 months and then wear some sort of support for for the next few months when surfing. If it hurts, stop. Minimize ibuprofen use, it slows healing to some degree. Eat lots of dark greens, you'll heal better.

80 % healed at 2 months , good advice from above . Eat healthy and Beer is good for bone as well , makes the wait seem shorter . Good luck
