Haha. Saw a guy out there a couple years back riding one of those Jetboards Cory Lopez used to ride for. Needless to say it was quite annoying as the guy was super speedy and catching way too many waves.

A guy down in S. Mel Beach has one of the early wavejets (I think), have not tried it but another forum member has and said it was fun but very, very heavy. I can see looking one of these when I get real old. I have some permanent injuries that will definitely become worse as I age. . Many years ago on the W. Coast, I spent a short time living on a boat in Marina Del Ray, a fellow liveaboard on my dock was a surfer in his early 70's. He was really bummed because he knew his surfing time was coming to a close. We would dawn patrol Malibu every day because time was running out for him, years of hard living and blown rotator cuffs and other issues that made paddling painful. I think he would have been able to extend his days of surfing if he had one of these.

I'm in the same boat and dreading the future.... so I'm gonna go hard until I burn out. Then I'll be in my rockin chair sayin'.."ehhh you kids these days dont know shit about surfin" .......... IMO, if it has a motor, it's not really surfing

^ I thought that way to until I met "Hurricane Kelly" in LA, a C.B. transplant (small world), he was more surf stoked than any grom but just could not paddle without pain, he could ride was a decent LB'r but was physically shot. the time was getting near to hang it up and he knew it. I'd give him a pass if I saw him motoring back out then taking his turn. Some on here will remember "Al" the Vero local who surfed the inlet every day @ dawn. 1/2 of his rides were just prone, never stood up just bellied a big wave gun across the rights...I miss seeing Al. Wonder if he would have surfed longer with a wavejet type board..everyone would have given him a pass

yeah, I currently have a shredded lambrum in my shoulder (multiple injuries) and close to bone-on-bone in one of my knees (multiple injuries and shitty family genetics) and I'm in my 40s ..... hoping for some serious medical advancements in the near future, cause I still go harder than alot of the "young" guys ........ *speaking of which, seriously considering some stem cell therapy this winter if anyone has any input, it would be appreciated

Plan B skip the stem cell therapy , we tried it on small lesions on the knee and it didn't work very well .hyaluronic acid injections are a better way to go until you want to commit to a joint replacement

If you had reduced capacity and increased income, you would do it. its like someone complaining about silicone implants. They are not the best, but they are better than nothing.
