World's Best Big Wave Surfers Prepare for Possible Nazaré Event Start

"We anticipate a great swell hitting Nazaré later this week," said Mike Parsons, WSL Big Wave Tour Commissioner. "A WNW swell is moving toward the region and expected to hit Praia do Norte with ideal winds on Friday, November 16.

We have issued a Yellow Alert to potentially run on Friday. We are closely monitoring the conditions, and if all continues to align, we will go Green 48 hours prior."

Green Alert: Nazaré Challenge Called ON

"We've officially issued a Green Alert to run the Nazaré Challenge on Friday, November 16," said Mike Parsons, WSL Big Wave Tour Commissioner. "The conditions we've been closely tracking still look favorable for Friday. We hope to see epic waves for the surfers to paddle into in the 25-35 foot face range. The swell and the winds are forecast to all come together and be very clean to kick off the Big Wave Tour season."

One of the best contest I have watched...HDMI cable from Laptop to Smart TV is the way to view it....crack open a beer and sit back and watch...There was a Brazilian (I think) that has a extreme style....he would purposely cause his board to air drops on the take off to free up his board and "bunny hopped" off the humps and bumps almost like a skater oliie's off ledges..but he was doing this on a 10 foot gun...unique style, never seen that before. Worth watching before they take it down..
