Sizable, that jetty is pretty tall.

6.6 feet at 7 seconds at the mouth of the Port. I bet the gambling boat was a real hoot!

Inside buoy data.

I was one of many who surfed inside Jetties. It was the go-to spot on those rare but huge close out days or any strong windy days.
It was a very fun wave and a very fun place to hang out on a good surf day.
No park back then, no structures... just a lil sand road from the port to the jetty. Good times.
Back in the pre-leash days... we all had stories of rescuing our boards from off the rocks lol.

I wrote a lil memory of my surfing there the first time after migrating to Cocoa Beach from the Outer Banks in '66.

I surfed it once but it was just feathering along the rocks so couldn't do much, then one day we went and it was splashing up under the pier and reeling pretty good, but as we were getting ready one guy paddled out ahead of us and was quickly greeted by a coast guard boat with a PA saying get out!!!

In the late 70's into early 80's people still allowed to surf there. I surfed it a couple times, but never caught it good, but others did for sure.

Swimmers used to swim in there and in '77 one of my fellow lifeguards made a full on, unconsciencious resusitation of a lady. It was our best rescue that year. He dove deep into the dark waters to pull her up. We were not guarding that area so someone ran to the beach tower to get the guard and he just dove in only knowing where she was last seen. Then to bring her back was amazing

I lived in South Patrick Shores. On those days when the wind and the swell came together, my first surf check was always inside the jetties. Usually, the winter was the best.

One good winter day, , , , the swell was pretty good and was breaking earlier and further away from the jetty than on smaller days, and kept breaking a little past the inside "jog" in the rocks. I'm sitting there, waiting for a set, facing towards the inside of the port, and generally not paying any attention to my surroundings when I hear voices above and behind me. WTF?! I turn and find that a nuke sub has come in and is silently starting to pass by, rather closely! The voices were from the crew members standing up in the sail.

It was a strange wave and felt like surfing up hill. A very fun vibe though.
