Louise at Health First fitness facility on Merritt Island. Very professional, highly knowledgeable, good manner. Just over 1year after my shoulder work (by Dr. Woodward of course) and back to full capabilities.

Reattached bicep (long head tendon), remove bone spurs, debridement of joint tissues, cleanup of joint surfaces. Nothing like a total replacement, but no surfing for 6 months. Recovery time for almost-old guys is longer than for young bucks. Followed Doctors orders and PT's instructions religiously. Almost full recovery of motion, completely elimination of pain. Now about that lower back and those knees and hips...

Rotator cuff repair with removal of bone spur. Three months of no driving, then more time for full recovery. While the shoulder gets back to full use, swim fins can be entertaining.

65 who was your doctor? I ask because my wife had a total shoulder 15 or so years ago and is looking at another. The docs here we have talked to here won't touch her so we are still looking. We have been told we must got to either Gainsville or Tampa so we are looking for another doc locally for a second opinion. Thanks in advance.

I went to Jewett and Dr. Banard, they are in the health first network and it just felt like the right decision. It was done out patient which was the way I really wanted it done. So far so good.

pse, that is a bunch of work, some say that replacement is easier than what you went through.

I used Lombardo with good result. Rotator, bone spurs, tacked some tendons back on. Immobilized except for PT 8 weeks so couldn't even lift armwhen the sling came off. Back in the water weak at 8 months, better after a year. PT was Rehabworks at KSC.

65 I could not find them in the Health First listing. Do you have a website for them?

https://www.jewettortho.com here is their website, hf did not show all the doctors but Jewett is in the network so all the docs are too. Jewett took care of the pre authorization and hf has payed the bill. https://secure.healthx.com/PublicService/ProviderDirectoryV2/ProviderSearch.aspx?bc={c1503d12-e5a7-43ba-8dc8-4ce5cfc2b5e1}&serviceid={be4f541b-9b48-43f1-af8a-48c9a1a72abf}

Jewett did my dad's knee replacement with good results. Woodward did both my shoulders (bone spurs, torn labrum, clean out sticky adhesions, etc...) PT Professionals in Viera did all my PT. pse is right: it takes older guys longer to heal. With both shoulders, I had to stop PT for a while, and get a cortisone shot to reduce inflammation before I could continue. I had 95-100% range of motion back after about a year. Strength would be 100% if I worked out, but I haven't. No limitations though. Glad I did it.

Just got back from seeing Dr. Barnard for two week post op and he told me everything looks good Told him I am still sleeping in the recliner, which I think is the worst part, so he gave me an rx for Ambien, must get some sleep. So far I would give Dr. Barnard 5 stars and my home pt person has been great too. Out patient pt evaluation next week at the Health Plex in MI where I will be asking for Louise. Thanks for the insights and recommendations.

Ambien sucks.....groggy all the next day. Try Flexeril, valium or Xanax. Very low dose.....2.5mg of valium will put me to sleep for at least 5 hours. People try to open doors on aircraft when on Ambien....crazy dreams also...
