Season effect has been kicking in later and later - Hoping for the long range models to hold up.

Yes my trip to California in January and the general scoring of great punchy surf had saved countless individuals from me ranting. But the effect is wearing off. Since kicking my pets is out of the question, yes this has been the worst winter ever. Well since I moved here in 91...

Reasons this is happening -

Have developed alltimers disease (it was all-time back when)
Neptune mad at us
Not enough board sacrifices
Global catastrophe
Sandbars bite
God testing us
other stuff

Agree, worst winter ever. The few small swells we have had sucked with the trough from hell and high tide in the morning when the wind was good. As far as the long range models, I see nothing in our future.

surfed smyrna a few weeks back in a 2/2 short sleeve full and I was fine - this cold snap may hurt it a bit but next week is looking warm again here's to spring swells! (and surf trips) lol

Bought a board this past Christmas, first one in 3 years. Have not had a decent swell to even get the thing wet. Been outside playing a lot, but not so much surfing

I thought we were in the good old time pattern in November.

You know the SE wind starts blowing for a couple of days before the cold front. The front gets closer the wind veers off side and bang......short period A frames...
The front goes by, the low goes off Carolina, throws back the North swell with NW wind. ( good for SoFla ) Winds ease up, swell for a few days , another front starts heading down......bang...wash rinse repeat. BUT no......climate change or something.

Even if we had any kind of swell the bottom is F ed. Dredging and filling in Cape Canaveral......fing O ville tourists everywhere. UGGGG

oh well, watching and waiting and hoping for the best.

I was thinking just this morning, when is the "Worst Winter Ever" post coming ... well I should have known we could count on dkaye. Yes, confirmed, worst winter in my memory. AND you post this on our 1 year anniversary of Winter Storm Michael. Michael was THE MAN. Then we had a little bit of Florence in September (Hotter than Hades). Then the Saturday after Thanksgiving. A couple of nuggets in December, then that's it.

Remember the Fire Summer of '98? No waves from mid-May until Hurricane Bonnie in August.

To my recollection, that is the closest comparison to this epidemic.

worse winter ever... no groundswell past 30 days, no groundswell forecast next 30 days. nothing but weak windswell and a horrible bottom.

Indeed, this winter season has been one of the worst I can remember. And to make matters even worse, our bottoms have sucked for the last couple of months +/-, so even the meager (mostly wind slop to small mid-period) morsels we have had have been frustrating.

Agree 100%. Not even a real wind swell to help reset the bottom.

Worst winter ever? More like the worst years ever. I sincerely think that 2017-present day has been the worst hell on Earth for Florida surfers yet.
