Legend
One of the best surfers I was ever in the water with.

Go with God on an eternal wave.

So if you are a surfer I wish you the prosperity that allows you more time to pursue the salt water dream, and the true happiness that comes from warm water, clean waves and the companionship of your fellow surfers. If you are an internet troll just spewing bs then f off.

His Retrospective Show at the Florida Surf Museum must have been his farewell to Cocoa Beach. Gary Propper Retrospective Show @ Florida Surf Museum

I always thought it was shameful that CCB Surf Shop took down his statue because Baugher had a spat with Dimenna. That was the coolest statue of them all and Baugher was petty, petty, petty to take his beef out that way. He should donate it to CCB to be prominently displayed. Kelly is obviously the bigger name, but, Gary laid the table for everybody who came afterwards, including Kelly. And, he was one smooooooooth surfer. (

Watch the old film of GP surfing, he was The Smoothest! Pretty much always kept his left arm straight down at his side and very, very, rarely raised his right arm above his shoulder.

Raising your arms up above your shoulders while surfing is a direct sign of being unbalanced.

Middle 60's, Gary is in some contest somewhere, needs a little wax, pops a bar out of his pocket, is waxing away when a good wave pops up, no time time wrestle with putting the wax back in that little wax pocket so he puts it in his mouth and takes off. Of course he gets a great ride and next month there's his picture in Surfer riding with style and that bar of wax in his mouth. Because every surfer on the east coast wanted to be like Gary, for the next two years you could hardly go to the beach and not see some guy surfing with a bar of wax in his mouth.
R.I.P. Gary

I met him in Cocoa Beach in the mid 90's and even though he was already famous for his Ninja Turtles creation, he was still a down to earth guy who cared about his family and friends. His artwork was creative and his style on a longboard timeless. RIP Gary!

..............Gary Propper gave me a massive break in the music and entertainment business. Not just myself but so many have enjoyed Carrot Top, Mutant Nija Turtles, and I think he even managed and promoted many many others that people would be surprised to know about maybe Luther Vandros, Gallagher, Robin Williams?. Not totally sure but many notable projects and artists, dude is also a legend in entertainment and art also. Very greatful for Gary. RIP, Please someone who knows more post.

.............bump on the Florida Today article is awesome, and please anyone share stories. Gary managed Tony Harrison and I was so lucky to be in the band. The Carrot Top and concert venue after parties were epic to see how Gary brightened the room and had so much positive energy. He impacted a lot of people.
