Old family friends from the late '60s.
Enjoyed many Sunday afternoon meals his Mom made.
Back then, was my only square meal for me each week.

Marc - quirky, goofy, often hard to get along with... but still a friend.

Sad news!

I first met him in Eleuthera when he was there with Flea Shaw (those 2 together = prick to the 2nd power) and David "Dog" Donavon ... we didn't exactly hit it off. Then a couple of years later, I ran into him again with Dog in San Salvador and we got on great!! I asked him if he remembered the Eleuthera trip and his response was classic ...... "well Flea and I always try and out asshole each other"

Very sad indeed. I remember loving being in the water with him. Ripper. Sure he would snake you every once in a while, but he would hoot for you also. A free spirit admired by many.

Vaya con dios....

Marc was my good friend since high school. I first met Marc when I started surfing at the pier in late 60's/early 70's. Marc was always the loudest in the line up but he ripped. Later, we surfed together on the G&S surf team with Jeff Crawford. We traveled together to California and surfed our brains out. I moved away to attend college and pursue a career. Later, I moved back and Marc was the first one there to get me back into surfing. I knew Marc for over 30 years and he was a true friend and would do anything for you! Marc has always been a big part of surf community in Brevard County, including, but not limited to, owner of Starr Surfboards. I will miss my friend.

Years ago I was surfing the Light one day with a hard offshore wind and when I was leaving, the wind caught my door and blasted it into the passenger door on Marc's Isuzu; a real nasty gash. I waited for him to come in, but it was good and he was making the most of it, so I left him a note that I would pay to get it fixed. He never called and when I saw him a few weeks later I asked him how much, he said don't worry about it, then grumbled something about knowing a car repair guy. Back then, I repaired surfboards for a living and the season had died with the colder weather, so cash was tight. Marc's generosity meant actual food and not pasta for a few weeks. Yes, he was a gruff guy, but down deep he was the real deal.

RIP brother, you went too soon.

Every description of Marc and all those other guys, well those were the days of good old fashioned crowd control! These days, the young'uns might be inclined to retain a lawyer if they experienced half of what we did!

RIP

1971 and my value was a big reliable Ford Station wagon. Many day trips with Marc, Jeff C and a few others down to the Inlet, Playalinda etc. Once down to Reef Road! Lost touch in mid '70s doing "grown up" stuff. RIP Old Friend.

Marc and I worked as young sales rep for Bob Tuners. are 1st sales per job We talked about surfing and surf trips all the time . but I thought he was full of it. I was wrong, About that time his best friend run off with his bride to be. This of course blew him away. Never forget he left his sales samples, and bag at the front door and was gone. Didn't hear from him for 40 something years. I got his number and called about a week before he passed. I wanted to go surfing and joke about old times ( I'm 67 now Another old friend gone. God be with you.
