What's happening?

A $47.6 million sand-pumping and placement project to restore beach and dunes along 11.5 miles from Pineda Causeway to South Spessard Holland Park is set to begin this week, according to a Brevard County press release late Friday.

Mid Reach sand placement will begin between Pineda Causeway and Hightower Park in January and early February. SPRA Park will be closed for most of this time. Later in the spring work will proceed southward to reach the Indian Harbour Beach Club located at 2055 A1A in central Indian Harbour beach by April 30, 2024. The remainder of the Mid Reach and South Reach, between Indian Harbour Beach Club and Spessard Holland Park, will be finished between November 2024 and April 2025.

Don't know. Just saw the article in Florida Today. All I do know, is that dredge and fill really kills the surf breaks. Covers the coquina rock, makes it one long closeout.

I don't think the sandbars from Paradise to BW can get any worse, hopefully the sand gets pulled down and fills in the trough. Seems like it's been a loooong time since it broke from the outside and rolled (broke) all the way to the shore.

I thought they were already dumping dirt. I keep seeing trucks in Mel Beach and the sand is crap.
I swear they did this last year. They used to only dump sand every few years.

The dredge is here, down near spessie. Yesterday I could hear the dredge pump running from miles away up the coast up by Paradise, which btw wasnt breaking very good yestrday, even at low tide.

Waiting for waves is ok......most people spend their lives waiting for nothing.
