Hey, a bunch of friends and family are going to meet up at Peddan Peddan aka Blackbeards this Friday @ 6 pm to dark. Rob Youngkin passed away a year ago, Sept. 14th while surfing Hurr. Florence huge waves. Blackbeards is across the highway from Dakine Burritos, Satellite Beach. Informal/byob. We are just going to meet up and talk Rob stories in memorial.

Thanks for the shot Burry! That is an excellent one.

I got a link around here somewhere of the other photos from the paddleout last year. I'll look for it. That was an amazing paddleout for a great person.

I'm still in denial and feel like I can call Rob up tomorrow and see where he is surfing.

I still have a hard time coming to grips with his death. He was such a charismatic individual full of life!! I'll try and bring some photos of my trip to Mexico with him and his family. Too many Rob stories to recount in one evening.

Old thread bump: It just dawned on me that my good friend, Everyone's good friend, Rob Youngkin died surfing the huge Hurricane Florence swell Sept. 14th, 2006. That was a very sad day.

Lo-n-behold, Hurricane Florence is going to give us another big swell 12 years later on the same date.

I was thinking about this yesterday, wondering what the exact date it was, but remembered it was Florence that it happened on. I never knew him myself, but knew that you did and I recall that day when the first report came in. Crazy coincidence that this Friday may very well be one of those really good days just like that one was, with the exception of what happened to him. Sorry for your loss.

Yes, still think of Rob. I was in his ex-office at work the other day. I can remember walking in when he worked there and could hear him from a few cubes away cutting it up. It was always a funny time to go visit him at work. He had everyone in stitches. I'm sure his cubemates found it hard to get work done as he was always talking. That is what Rob did. He was a comedian. Its weird thinking it has been 12 years. I've got Friday off, maybe I'll surf Blackbeards on the 14th in remembrance.
