I'm looking to get started, was wondering about some of the best links, tips, tools, and worthwhile forums. Seems like getting pointed in the right direction by a live, experienced human would be more productive than digging thru endless forums with their trolls and all... Among the initial questions: 1) Is it worth using one of the platform-independent tools to target both OS's, vs developing for one and then porting to the other? 2) Is anyone using the Rent-a-Mac websites (remote login for $1/hour, etc...) or Mac Virtual Machines on a PC, instead of running on a real (physical) Mac at your site? If so, how's it working out? 3) I've understood iPhone apps can only be installed from the Apple Store, unless you jailbreak the phone... Is that true? If so, can you even test apps you're developing on your own phone before they hit the Apple store? Or is most of the development done in a simulated environment? Experience-wise, I've done a good amount of C programming, but more for embedded real-time math stuff than GUI-based, end-user apps. My primary first targets are Apple (watch in particular, but phone as well since so many apps are co-dependent). Thanks in advance for whatever ya gots! rj |
