"Dillon Gabriel is going to play in the first half. He's earned that opportunity. I'm looking forward to seeing him go out and play."#UCF head coach #JoshHeupel

UCF blanked FAMU last night 62-0.

Dillon Gabriel. OMG, McKenzie Milton 2.0. He played great. Wimbush played alright but is mistake prone.

Quandry Jones got in at end and threw a TD also. He looked goo.

But, it was FAMU. Next week FAU prob will have more talent.

News of the day for UCF is that they drop one notch to #18 in the recent AP poll. Wow. Did UCF do something to drop in the polls? 62-0 makes you drop in the polls. Got it.

#16 Oregon with one loss is ranked higher in the AP poll than UCF. In the Coaches poll they stay at #17 with one loss Oregon #18.

Next UCF game is Saturday @FAU. 7pm. Boca Raton. FAU just got spanked by @OhioState 45-21

Coach interview says that both Qbs will again see action at FAU. My reaction is I think that is a good decision. Eventually Dillon Gabriel will win the starting job. Wimbush is pretty good but will make mistakes and those mistakes will show up with better competition. After FAU, then Stanford at UCF. Stanford just beat Northwestern 17-7. This weekend Stanford plays @USC. Stanford is ranked #23 in both polls. Hope they beat USC and come to UCF undefeated. I also hope UCF is undefeated as well. I expect FAU game to be pretty good. Don't know what the odds are but am sure UCF is heavily favored. But, who knows. Go Knights.

Dillon Gabriel got the start last night against @FAU.

UCF 48 FAU 14 They stopped the game with 4 minutes to play. It was over. FAU scored a td in mop up duty then lightning.

UCF played a complete game. UCF Defense is much improved and played lights out. Only allowing FAU to score a TD late in the game.

I know its dangerous to compare scores around here. But, #5 Ohio State 45 FAU 21 AND at the horseshoe. UCF travelled to FAU and beat them completely.

I expect UCF to drop in the polls again. <--- not kidding

I'll repeat, this is UCF best team ever.

Stanford lost to USC late last night 45-20. Bummed they couldn't be coming to Orlando undefeated.

Next up Saturday 9/14 3:30pm. Stanford vs @UCF

Notre Dame didn't even play this weekend and moved up in the polls. Washington lost last night but still in top 25 with only a win against a Div 1aa team. Florida beats a Div 1aa team and they move up 2 or 3 spots back into the top ten. Michigan struggled with Army in 2OT. Should they be top ten? Eh? Wisconsin so far looks like the best team. They should be higher.

It was announced today that Darriel Mack Jr is cleared to play this week. Not that means he will but you can now throw him in the great UCF Qb mix. Nobody knows who the starter is going into game 3.

Also, UCF favored by 7 points over Stanford. Kick off 3:30pm.

So much depth developing at QB. I think Heupel is genius. Keep the opponent guessing who to prepare for. Gabriel starting @FAU was a bit of a surprise despite how well he played against the Rattlers. Thanks to the most inefficient gate security I've ever passed through (don't even get me started on the beer line), until I asked the guy next to us, I thought Wimbish put up 14 and then sat down.

Interesting that Mack's injury detail has been on lockdown from day one. One thing's for certain..he's been able to study Stanford film for a month. Maybe the whole thing was mis-direction and he'll come out throwing Can't wait to get a beer in timely fashion and bounce on Saturday!

I was going to the FAU game, had tix. But a family emergency happened. Watched it on tv instead. Glad I didn't go as I saw and read how bad the security lines and concession lines were. There has been some articles written about FAU and how it dropped the ball on a sold out stadium and fumbling getting people in.

Coach Heupel is great. UCF is loaded at every position. What really stood out for the FAU game is how great our defensive line is. Going into the season that was a huge question mark. Not any more. Randy Shannon has them playing very aggressively and rotating players in/out to keep them fresh. FAU Qb had no time to throw. 16 tackles for loss.

I'm as confused as everyone else who the starting Qb is or will be!

UCF's Wimbush expected to play as QB Mack knocks the rust off
After not playing against Florida Atlantic, UCF quarterback Brandon Wimbush has had a "good week" and is expected to play, according to offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby.

"Pretty straightforward today. We got beat by a very good football team," Stanford coach David Shaw said. "Going into it, all this Group of Five talk ... I don't know what any of that stuff is. Doesn't matter. Doesn't matter. What matters is they've got talent, they've got speed. They've got playmakers and they're a tough team ... one of the best teams in America the last two years. They don't need a statement win."

from an article. best quick-read summary

Dillon Gabriel, quarterback, Central Florida Knights

Central Florida entered the summer hoping either Brandon Wimbush or Darriel Mack would emerge as a reliable, temporary replacement for McKenzie Milton. Now a few months later, Gabriel is making fans start to forget about their old star.

Gabriel took the field with a chance to help deliver UCF's biggest win in years. He did more than prove this team deserves greater national recognition. Gabriel showed he is UCF's future. He threw for 186 yards with three scores in the first quarter alone. He is a gunslinger who packs a lot of heat and his 347-yard, four-touchdown outing would have been even better if UCF didn't blow out Stanford in a single half.

Yes, i'm that much of a ucf homer that I watch the game the next day on DVR. I thought this was pretty good coverage of the bounce house during the thick of it. It really cleared out at half time due to the game was over, but cool coverage of UCF on national TV.
