These are the possible reasons for the lack of replication. There is a prolblem with results that seem true but cannot be replicated.

this has a strange premise to it that makes it look like the psychologists have psychological problems. They start out with the premise that all people are exactly alike and so their psychological tests should be able to work every time and every where. It is called Weird because in general their tests are made FOR Western Educated Industrial Rich democratic... societies., those societies make snap judgements on Trustworthiness and Physical Strength at first glance of a picture. Eastern Societies, China in particular make snap judgements on Competency instead of strength. South America uses 'weirdness' as a driving factor, the subject face looks bizarre or strange. SO, while one should expect a lot of variations from different cultures in various locations the study team is still looking to reproduce psychological and social science theories that are working in western societies on a global scale. ... The article is also touting a study accelerator. So a scientific theory can use the accelerator and be tested by hundreds of researchers in 70 countries all at one time... this shortens the length of the study BUT makes replication of results almost impossible.. The only results that match the original hypothesis are from Western, educated... in other words, weird, societies.

Psychology has the hardest time with the scientific method. There are so many variables that any control group is susceptible to a uniqueness that makes replication extremely difficult.
