Janitor attempting to turn off beeping noise destroys decades of scientific research, causes $1M in damages.

A janitor cleaning in a laboratory at a university in Troy, New York, is accused of damaging at least $1 million in scientific research after shutting off the storage freezer while trying to turn off a constant beeping noise, according to a lawsuit.

The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute filed the lawsuit against Daigle Cleaning Services, the outside firm that employed the cleaner, The New York Post reported.

When the cleaner shut off a circuit breaker on Sept. 17, 2020, the freezer was storing cell cultures, samples and other research elements at minus-112 degrees Fahrenheit. The temperature reportedly rose to minus-25.6 degrees Farenheit after the freezer was turned off - damaging or destroying all of its contents, the lawsuit alleges.

Such happens. Many years ago, sets of young Florida Torreya trees (from the Apalahicola bluffs) were distributed to gardens and other conservation organizations where they could be set out and grown to maturity. You can't do that any longer due to a new fungal disease. Anyway, one shipment, which fit in a single box, arrived at a distinguished botanical garden, where someone thought the box belonged in the freezer. The plants all died.

Dude I knew that worked for an unnamed company on an unnamed government contract for almost 5 years. The last year and half of his employment he had a new (smoking hot) partner. They hook up and start going back to his place to bang all the time and falsifying their field data. They got caught because one of their sample times was after the samples were dropped off at the lab; previous strange data starts to make sense and chaos ensues, they get fired and said agency has to flag ALL 5 years of his data.....

Moral of the story....if you can't keep it in your pants, just bang her on the boat or in the truck, but don't falsify your data....

Maybe the guy who turned off the fridge should have been better paid and better trained.
