Kind of an interesting song:
Published on Aug 9, 2013 Lorde is a sensation in her native New Zealand and the 16-year-old singer is making quite a splash on our coast as well. Her vocal and lyrical prowess at such a young age is impressive, as she gives us snapshots of her teenage life. We're excited for her Morning Becomes Eclectic. I got the CD today and listened to it. Very good. Every song is pretty good. Its mellow. She has a pretty and unique voice. It sounds like it will be a good commute CD. Meaning long drives and listening to music.

I've listened to the full album a few times now. Royals is def the best song on the album. However, all of them are pretty good. I can see this one winning album of the year if they give out awards for those still.
The music is minimalist yet never boring. Lyrics are interesting. Good voice. Although the music is not like Adele or her voice is as good. But, the full album is like an Adele one where all the songs are good. After hearing Adele's 21 album I went back and bought the 19 album and it was just as good. I can see Lorde putting out a another good album using the same formula. She is young at 17 so she has time to put out another one. Unless she goes the drug induced molly route like her counterparts are. LOL. Actually, she seems like the anti-miley. Lyrics kind of make fun of that. It took me awhile but Royals is making fun of rap songs. Also, Lorde is making it big and I'm late to the party with this thread. She was spoofed on Saturday Night Live last Saturday. |

Speaking of parodies, here is a parody of Royals by Key of Awesome. My favorite of the Royals parodies... I especially like the "Deck sealer" bit, and "Ja Rule"

Sad Clown? That is sad.
Lorde is performing for the Grammys tonight. My son just came in the room and said, "I hate that song". What backlash to a great new artist. Oh well...I like it...Get the album. Every song on it is good. |

royals won song of the year.
I like her interview answer on about her twitching dance she does....You may ask yourself...How did I get here? Your stage moves are really unique and sort of intense. Where did they come from? To be honest, it's just the way the music manifests itself in my body. I have no control over it and I watch it back and I almost feel embarrassed because I think it looks really weird. But have you seen Talking Heads' 'Stop Making Sense'? Have you seen how David Byrne moves? You know that it's not put on. It's just David Byrne feeling the music, which makes me feel not so bad. |

Ironically, she now WILL be able to live, and be treated like...a royal. Way to go, Lorde!
