At the risk of offending some of my neighbors I'm going to say that coco beach has an abundance of crappy restaurants and a few good ones.

Looking forward to this one!

Your guess is as good as mine, but with any luck it'll be late Jan/early February. Preferably 2017.

Didn't you have to gut out the entire place? There's a buzz in CB waiting on you all to open. Ale House stepped on his own feet when he blasted the local restaurants on Facebook.

Yeah it's a full renovation. It didn't start out that way but once we got in there it became obvious it was going to be a much bigger project than we thought. Now we're just going for broke!

Ale house is just another local tourist trap. typical uninspired sysco menu, not even any curb appeal or decent outside seating. Even the generic 'ALE HOUSE' signage is generically trashy. what an eysesore.

Big day on the project yesterday! This may be the coolest looking beer tap system I've ever seen in a bar. And I get around!

Opened to the public yesterday at 4pm! We'll open daily at 4 until we get on our feet, then start opening for lunch.

Went to the taproom this past Tuesday around 530 pm ( 3-21-17) Went with my son 2 grandkids and another friend of mine.

We have all been to The Pub many, many times. Big fans.

Walked into the taproom. It looks clean, bright and new. Smells new. Bright smiling hostess gave us a great table. Cody was our server. We got some great on tap beer. I got a German lager, excellent. Son and friend got the hoppiest beer on the menu with the highest alcohol content. We got reggae shrimp and potato skins for apps. Freaking excellent. However.....errrr. we should have stopped there. ( except for the beers. Kids got bottled root beer. ( chicken nuggests and fires)

I got a cup of clam chowder ( very good ) and a ceasar salad with blacken mahi.
Not good at all. The salad was romaine with dressing on the side. The croutons were rock hard. The worst excuse for ceasar dressing I have ever had. The mahi was BLACKENED, burnt. Son got she crab soup, very dull and very thick.

Friend got what we all should have got: The Classic Coasters burger. Thick and juicy. I thought he had to unhinge his jaw to get it in his mouth.

No worries we had a few more beers .

All in all some excellent, some good, and some not so good.

I would say that while the place is new, it lacks the atmosphere and character of the original.

Hey jdbman,

Thanks for stopping by! Man, oh, man, opening a second restaurant has been a challenge. We tried to get off on the right foot as much as possible by training the Cocoa Beach staff down in Melbourne so they could hit the ground running.

It mostly worked. But there are still some bugs to iron out and you found a couple of them. My chef (and fellow Surfer) Cheyne Balbier is already on the crab bisque project, and mahi, as well, to make sure they're within specs of our recipe.

Atmosphere... that's on me and my wife entirely. It's not going to have that worn-in feel of a 25+ year old pub. Instead, we're slowly bringing cool, antique (mostly European) beer-related stuff into it. You'll find a map from Brussels from the 1600s on the wall, and antique St Bernardus / Westvletern goodies on display, and old-time patents from alcohol-related products like corkscrews, fermenters and crap like that.

I have a neat 1500s map of Freising, Germany that shows Brauerie Weihenstepher before it was known by today's name. I need to get that puppy framed. And other nifty things to put on the walls and to use as decorations. Long Story, Short.... decorations are evolving. The beer distributors were tripping over themselves to give me Blue Moon, Leinenkugel and Budweiser signs. Nope; I'm not gonna do it. To me, my wife and daughter, this isn't a sprint; it's a marathon.

We know we'll have to earn business in Cocoa Beach to hang in there, and the whole Coasters team is excited to doing just that. Unfortunately this is just another business, where things take longer and cost more than you ever imagined. Just with fewer PowerPoint slide shows and email threads.

Cheers!

Today's lunch was pretty photogenic. I brought my amateur camera in and borrowed some of the dishes from the expo for a few moments.

Our Classic Cheeseburger.
A half-pound, freshly-ground, hand-pattied, chargrilled beef burger with your cheese of choice and lettuce, tomato and onion on a Kaiser with your favorite side item.

http://i.imgur.com/7TaMq4S.jpg

[B Aussie Burger, with Bells Two Hearted Ale:
The 'burger with the lot.' An eight ounce, freshly ground, hand pattied and grilled burger cooked to your liking, with fried egg, bacon, cheese, beet root, lettuce, tomato and onion on a potato Kaiser with your choice of side.

Chicken Wings:
The biggest chicken wings we could find, fried and tossed in your favorite sauce.

Beer:
This one's a Stone Brewing 'Enjoy By: 4/20/17 IPA, but if hoppy beers aren't to your liking, there are 22 other beers on tap as well as 8 wines and 3 cocktails on tap. Cheers!

Crab Dip:
Our rich crab dip, made with real lump crab, sherry, shallot, cream cheese and baked. Served with pita wedges

Pastrami Burger:
For the most voracious appetites. A half pound of freshly ground beef, cooked to your liking, with lettuce, tomato and onion, topped with warm, shaved pastrami, thousand-isle dressing and served on a potato Kaiser.

Cheers!
