"When the band first started, Ben was supposed to be the lead singer and I was supposed to be the good-looking guy in the band - but after a couple of gigs, I kinda got demoted to the songwriter," Ocasek said. "But obviously it's hard not to notice that Benjamin Orr is not here. He would've been elated to be here on this stage. It still feels strange to be up here without him."

Still, they need to induct Link Wray. Rumble was the tune that launched 1000 guitar bands.

I was impressed the Moody Blues could still hit the high notes. I thought John Bon Jovi was very classy. His speech brought a lot of competing interests together without being dickish or syrupy sweet. I don't particularly like them but I respect them and their 130 million albums. I always wonder how they get around to choosing who gets in and laugh that by the time some of them get in, they are dying off from old age. I guess its the nature of torch bearing in the noon sun. Also, I really like the idea of an alternative Rock n Roll hall of fame in some place way better than Cleveland, like Detroit. I'll be here all week.....
