"Pot" is as in electronic pressure cooker?
Saw and heard all the buzz, so went and got an 8 quart Faberware (it was $79 on the shelf at Walmart), but I had looked at it online. Went back online and "ordered" it for same-day-pickup for $49! Works like a champ. We first made a bean and sausage soup. Cut up the sausages, rinsed the dried beans off (no overnight soaking), some seasoning, put it all in the cooker with the appropriate amount of water and Boom, perfect soup in 75 minutes. No fuss. Just "steamed" a whole chicken the other night. Cold, right out of the fridge. Put in the steam rack, placed the lightly seasoned 4.25 LB chicken on it, put in 1 cup of water, and set it on "chicken" for 40 minutes, left it sealed and let it set for another 10 minutes. Boom! My wife is a pothead now -- she loves her Instant Pot brand. Keeps the chickens really moist and tender too. Throw some Lizano in the mix from time to time...
Getting rice done just right has proven tricky though... |

Rice needs lots of work. Tried two different "ways", both no-good, mostly underdone and/or overly sticky. Going to try "my way" next with more water and perhaps no pressure.
Next up will be a Boston Butt pork roast. Oh and, next time the chicken will have less seasoning and salt on it; after cooking, the remaining liquid in the pot is pure chicken juice. Too good to pass up and probably should only be seasoned to taste after-the-fact. I really like our Crock Pot, but this pressure thingy just might be a step up. ------------------------- Dora Hates You |

I got an instant pot for christmas, and after using it for the first time last night, I love it!!! It's so damn easy, throw all the ingredients in, set the timer, and boom 30 minutes later a fully cooked meal! As a single male, in my early 30s, it's the best cooking appliance I've ever had!!!

I recently had to travel to Washington state I was a "pot head" for exactly one week. Oddly enough I was only their a week. |

We use it mainly for soups since going vegetarian, but it sure saves time.

Put a pound of "stew beef" in last night. About 1 1/2 cups of beef broth, half a chopped onion and some ground pepper. Pressured it for 1 hour and out came Beef Butter!

Did a heavy pound-and-a-half of boneless-skinless chicken thighs tonite. Put them in frozen with about a 1/2 cup of water for 40 minutes. Then cut up celery, carrots, orange pepper and a good bit of crushed and chopped garlic. Mixed it all together with some salt and pepper and let it go for 35 minutes.
Put it over some pasta with grated parmesan. Yum! ------------------------- Dora Hates You |

I got a top of the line Fagor for my daughter's birthday last week with a 2 lb bag of unpolished Himalayan red rice to test it out. It normally takes over an hour to cook that kind of rice, and even then it tends to be a bit dry and crunchy, but it came out of this pot perfectly cooked with a tender germ in only 15 min. No rice cooker can do that. We found hard boiled eggs is where this thing really shines. Just tap the shell on the counter and it falls right off everytime. No peeling required, and very moist. If this pot does good osso buco, braised beef short ribs or ox tail, I'm going to have to get one for myself. I seriously have my doubts it will taste as good as old fashion slow cooking in cast iron though. Speaking of cast iron, if you cook in it, you have to get one of those SS chain mail scubbers. I'd been told how it would change everything about cooking with cast iron, and still I was shocked at how easy it makes cleaning and caring for cast iron. It's turely amazing. |

'the pot' works great for making 'the butter'; much faster than doing it in a crock pot.
