I admit, I'm really not that much. I appreciate his music, but I kind of feel the way some of the other characters in the movie expressed it. But I LOVED the movie. It perfectly captured Thatcherite Britain, and it was a really sweet movie. I've since read the book by the author of the screenplay, Welcome to Bury Park, and have become a big fan of his writing.

I have a good friend who is at LEAST as much of a Springsteen fan as the author. He regularly flies over here to see him play, and took two trips to see his Broadway show when it was running, and has met The Boss multiple times, so I can kind of understand the obsession. He's been to Spain, Germany, Ireland, you name it - wherever Bruce is playing, Tony goes. So I think he's probably met the author, too.

Anyway, it's worth seeing, if you are not hopelessly jaded, or if you like music.

I liked Yesterday, too. This was quite different, so it's worth seeing them both.

Just can't do it. This was talked about on NPR. "Who doesn't like the boss?" Me.

It's sort of/not really a musical (well, there is one musical number in it like a traditional musical and of course there is a lot of MUSIC in it). It's more about the UK under Thatcher. And the rise of the National Front there. And what it's like to live in an immigrant family there where the expectations for you are radically different from what you want. The music connected with him because of this, and that part was interesting.

In case you didn't know about that time in UK history - the UK in the early 90's went through a really deep recession (deeper than ours). There were riots (the poll tax riots) where people protested the Tory government and a lot of unrest and anger at the immigrant community. In many ways that time presaged Brexit.

I've seen him several times in the late 70's and early 80's. Greatest showman for a while. Put it all out on stage until Clarence had to carry him off. He lost me with the Born in the USA album.
