Just getting into Sup fun !

Do not want to spend over $100 for a paddle, maybe later, but want a light-weight, all around paddle for the wife and I.

Mostly flat water for both of us.

I have been surfing since I was 9, But whan the wife showed an intrest in a water-sport, I jumped all over it. We need advice from the colectible Sup community.

What to look for ? Material?

Thanks in advance !!

Congrats on getting the wife involved.  Fun for both.  Pretty soon you will have two sups and two paddles.  What you are asking for is difficult to fullfil.  One you want a paddle for two differnt heights.  ok get an adjustable paddle. Two you want light weight and durable material like carboon/kevlar. Third you want it for $100 or less.  Best I have seen an adjustable /carbon paddle for is $285.  What you will get for $100 is an nonadjustable aluminium paddle that pisses your wife off cause it is too heavy ad too long for her to use.  A good paddle is worth it.

I have a adjustable caron fiber shaft paddle for $100 in Fort Pierce

it has a plastic paddle, which is fine if you push on the bottom in low tide.

I have a new carbon fiber paddle with bamboo blade for $100...it is cut to fit...so that could be an issue for two very different height people using it...but it's light and stiff..everything that a cheap aluminum paddle is not.

Anodized aluminum, thermoplastics, unbreakable blade, fully adjustable. We use them for our rentals and they hold up. Our next step up is 119, and the ones i use for my students. Of course its possible to spend more money as well but still functionally the same tool.
Thats just my first source, i'll report back. For a couple trying this out, these are more than adequate and fully functional.

Just heard from distributor colleague, very decent paddles from about $85-90. Up to fully custom carbon graphite model. I have an assortment of demo boards available to try, up to pro level custom competition models.
Main thing: just go have fun!
