The statue of Andrew Jackson in Jackson Square still has the inscription that the Union General Butler had carved on it: "The Union Must and Shall be Preserved".

Why do progs want to erase history? Could it be that it shows them to be failures at every turn? I think so. I am guessing that they want to cover up the fact that all those statues represent Democrats.

Taking down monuments will not erase history. History will still be in books and museums, just not on display in public like everyone is proud of it.

Acknowledging history warts and all can be easily separated from building monuments for an increasingly small and vocal group that does not even acknowledge the racism implicit in the monument. We do not build monuments celebrating our internment of Japanese citizens in WWII nor do we use our history to inflict new wounds under the false flag of history.
