2. Democrat party is playing catch up here. If they don't use "Dark Money" they are going to lose all 50 states. They've already lost 36. You can't fight a grease fire with water. So how do you reform the system? Play perfectly by your principles and get shut out because you win 0 elections? ------------------------- ... Edited: 02/20/2018 at 11:17 AM by scombrid |

1. NBC is fake news so I shouldn't believe it right? Stop. Just stop because it isn't working Scombrid. You need to get over this nonsense infatuation of yours. I absolutely dare you to go through my post history and show me a single instance of ever calling NBC fake news. What I HAVE said is that they are liberal biased. Given that the author of this piece chose to use democrats instead of republicans as the example on a left leaving media outlet, it should lend some credence to what he wrote. |

So how do you reform the system? Play perfectly by your principles and get shut out because you win 0 elections? Oh, you think democrats are capable of reforming a system that they embrace and use themselves? Citizens just made the corruption in our system easier, it existed long before that. Making excuses for culpability of the Ds just because the Rs are doing it too makes you part of the problem as well. You want to reform the system? Start casting your vote and electing people that will. |

Making excuses? Without "Highway 31". Roy Moore would be a Senator. That is reality. It is ugly reality but that it that. How are they going to get elected? My wage income is insufficient to fund their campaigns. ------------------------- ... |

What did "Citizens" overturn? Post "Citizens"; how do you get elected to reform the system? Bit of a catch22 eh? ------------------------- ... |

How does anyone get elected? Votes.
Is it realistic to expect the citizens of this country to wake up and stop believing this 2 party nonsense they have been getting force fed for generations? No. Is it realistic to expect someone elected by taking advantage of the corruption in place to actually work to remove it once they are in office? Maybe a person or two, but not the amount of people it would require to get the votes to enact actual reform? Absolutely not. So what is left Scombrid? |

How do you get votes? Somebody in the investor class buys them for you. Guns and bombs. Hopefully I'll check out of this shithole before it comes to pass. Butt I am getting ready none the less. ------------------------- ... |

How do you get votes? Somebody in the investor class buys them for you. Or the citizens take it upon themselves to cast the votes. |

And just pretend the citizens aren't affected by the billions spent on marketing and misinforming.

Not likely.
When almost 50% of the electorate stays at home during a presidential election, how does that fare for mid-terms? Perhaps an unfortunate incident will galvanize a new generation of voters. Maybe boomers who foresee their Medicare and Social Security being dismantled will vote. I do think, however, highlighting an event such as the Roy Moore/Doug Jones showdown as typical is simply cherry picking. |

If by cherry picking, you mean using a very obvious and easily understandable example to make a point ....then sure.

If by cherry picking, you mean using a very obvious and easily understandable example to make a point ....then sure. I mean let's look at the headline: How Democrats use Dark Money - and Win Elections. So, the Oval Office is Republican, The House is Republican and the Senate is Republican. What's all this about winning elections? |

I mean let's look at the headline: How Democrats use Dark Money - and Win Elections. Did you read more than the headline? Judging by this comment, the answer has to be no. The author literally goes on to say that the republicans have been guilty of using this bullshit more than the dems. |

"Goes on to say" is the problem. "Goes on". The people that need to read that shit don't "go on". They read the headline and move on. I know the author was trying to write a "we need to be better than this piece". Guess what, airing your dirty laundry is terrible strategy. You won't find such public introspection on the winning side. ------------------------- ... |

As soon as a viable third party candidate shows up, I'll take notice. You voted for Johnson, a Republican in a different suit, so you are as guilty as all the rest. Sorry mike, buy you aren't the rebel you think you are. ------------------------- I was right. |
