Everything seems way left when you've become numb to the right wing extremism that's dominated US politics and economics for half a century or more.

The US seems to be undeveloping, 3rdworldifying faster than any other western nation. We have the worst physical and mental health, violence, and wealth disparity statistics of any of our former allies.

Wealth and power consolidation has to be checked in increasingly creative ways, or we continue down this path of decline.

our immigration laws are weaker than all other western nations no (or at least their enforcement)?

Jeff Sessions is wanting to bring back Coolidge's 1924 strict immigration quotas that shut down the open immigration of the 19th and early 20th centuries. That bill was written expressly to keep out the undesirables from southern Europe and Asia and allow some northern Europeans. Sessions said that immigration shut down in 1924 built the middle class of the boomer generation. He completely ignores the 1930s. Seems we are headed that way. Huge concentration of capital in a few hands. Nationalistic isolationism. Not taxing the top end enough to pay for government. Scapegoating of the immigrants to explain why the plebes are not enjoying the spoils of the boom. What may come next?
