Thank you president Trump!

I last nights pep rally, Trump said there is going to be a 10% tax cut for the Middle Class. I'm not sure if congress knows anything about it, but hey, he is the king, so what do they matter.

On the minus side, he did openly profess to being a Nationalist, which is a true danger to our Republic, considering Nationalism has led to the downfall of more countries in the modern era than any other ideal or conviction.

Nationalism is the new conservatism. That and oligarchy. Trump has grabbed the GOP pussies and ran up on them like a bitch. Their silent acquiescence means yes. They are now his and they are finding that since they have not complained in two years or done anything to prevent him from raping their party and emerging as their tyrant, they must have been asking for it.

Idiots!

nationalism (n?sh??-n?-l?z??m, n?sh?n?-)?
n.
Devotion to the interests or culture of one's nation.
n.
The belief that nations will benefit from acting independently rather than collectively, emphasizing national rather than international goals.
n.
Aspirations for national independence in a country under foreign domination.

I wonder how long it will take for a picture of Trump to come up on every search for Nationalist Idiot. Think about it. The people closest to him describe his as an idiot and he now describes himself as a Nationalist. If the poor idiot ever read or appreciated where Nationalism starts and ends, he would fight it with the same resolve as our entire country did in WWII, but old bone spurs avoided military and wouldn't put himself in harms way for anything so pedestrian like the patriotism he so publicly and recently embraced.

Back to the topic: Kkranky, how can Trump justify his remark? He said there will be a ten percent tax cut and soon, even though congress isn't in session. Is the man not responsible for anything he says?

I think when he said that his treasury team shat their pants. No matter, I'd love a 10% tax cut off my federal returns.

Yea, the last one didn't cover the cost of living increase. I wonder what's going to happen when the tariffs hit everyday America?

The elites that couldn't spend what they already had did very well in Trump's "biggest tax cut in history".

Us, not so much.

Maybe that's why the new 10% talk for the peons?

I certainly noticed the difference in my pay check. Why should we be taking people's money and give it to others just because the can't spend what they have? Have you saved anything for Retirement, glide? What if some future gov't looked at your retirement account, decided that you had more than you needed in it, took it and gave it to, say, me (who had foolishly squandered my money and was broke)?

tpap, in a civilized, modern society, taxes cannot be optional, otherwise we're Somalia.

This country's wealth gap is large and growing.

We also have a tremendous national debt.

I find it an unnecessary gamble to increase that debt by giving a windfall to the wealthy (job creators, LOL) in hopes it will be recouped in the future off the backs of working folks by cutting SS and Medicare (Great idea Mitch and the rest).

Sorry, but I am firmly against it!

Trump is just making shit up as usual. He has no idea if he will make a tax cut or not.. he just opened his mouth and some crap came out.. same as any other day.

Also, I'm calling bullshit on Tpapablo's seeing a "noticeable difference" in his withholding. The government making a tax cut would affect your year end tax return, but it's not like they're going in and amending your W4 and changing your withholding.

again, making stuff up.

Should the gov't set an amount of wealth that an individual can have and seize everything over that? I assure you that once a gov't does that, it will come after us all. The gov't could seize every penny the top 1% has and it wouldn't make a dent in the deficit. So, where are they coming next? Yep, they will come after us. Our annual debt is about $800 billion. To pay that, every man woman and child would have to pay an extra $2400/yr. If we just tax the top 1%, they would have to pay $240,000 extra. Given that their average income is around $700k, that would leave them with an annual income of $180,000, or an effective tax rate of 75%. Think those dudes are going to keep working? Many wouldn't, so that golden goose is dead after 1 year of that. Now if we just go after the top .1%, each of them would have to pay $2.4 million/yr. That would be tough as they only make about that in a year. So, going after the "rich" ain't going to work. They would either move to another country or become bums if you tried to make up the deficit on their backs. The only way to take care of the debt is to cut spending and grow the economy. The problem is not too little income, it is too much spending. The gov't is spending $4 trillion/yr. 75% of that is for SS and health care. Our annual debt is about $800 billion. But if you want ot do it by taxation, you have to go after the middle class. For a family of 4, that is an extra $10,000/yr in taxes. If we want to cut spending, we have to look at SS and health care. Both of SS and medicare are going broke, btw, Medicare in 8 years and SS in 16. So, if we do nothing about those two programs, things will get much worse.
