Bump stocks have no legitimate purpose, they have to be held at the hip to get near automatic fire and the public learned about them, for the most part, by the Las Vegas shooter. The ban is torchbearing at high noon. Its a mere concession to avoid real background checks, a tax on firearms to pay for school security and mental illness treatment for all the people out there fantasizing about going out in a narcissistic blaze of glory as they murder until they are gunned down.
