Yeah, that was kind of a SMH moment since it was being filmed. He could have said something about the spirit of Christmas and how Santa lives in our traditions and generosity of the season, etc. I also thought it was kind of tacky that 1) a reporter asked about the shutdown while they were talking to children, and 2) the prez didn't say something like "Tonight we celebrate the birth of Christ and the spirit of Christmas, please lets honor that...Thank You." But, nope...he couldn't do it, and neither could that reporter.
