The Democrats worst nightmare, and this nation's first line of defense against a socialist takeover. Ya got to love independents.

And, as an old friend said when we talked about this last night (he's a DC Think Tank type); this is about Change, not defeating Trump but, changing the "Political System". The Democrats suck just as much as the Republicans ever did and Change has to start somewhere. In the end, if this splits the Dem vote and helps Trump get reelected; so be it. It will be a start. And, as such, it had better be a wake-up-call for any and all political "parties".

Can you seriously look at a billionaire center-right white guy who decides he should be president and consider it "change"?

Looks like more of the same, and he figures he can capitalize on the general disgust with the two party duopoly.

I agree, he should run.

A Republican Independent that will take votes from Trump? What's not to like!

IDIOT!

"He's also been a longtime Democratic donor, contributing to the campaigns of Obama, Hillary Clinton, New York Sen. Chuck Schumer, and Washington Sens. Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell, among others. He has also criticized Trump, telling employees that the president was creating "chaos" and hurting business; calling Trump's tax cuts for corporations unnecessary and reckless; and vowing to hire 10,000 refugees after Trump issued an executive order banning travel from seven mostly Muslim nations."

No actual republican would be voting for the POS.

Center Right businessman?

Enough with the business men already. No more two page agreements on nuclear arms negotiations. No more making a few changes to legislation and claiming it's yours. No more running it like a business bullshit. Politics is a profession for a reason.

But that's beside the point, he will lose millions of coffee customers either way, so dollars to donuts, this is a nonstarter.

Agreed Cole. He's a poser.

Anybody that would vote for this suit wearing barista probably matriculated at Trump U. The news he got heckled turned out to be pretty funny though maybe not for the egotistical bean grinder.

To the hopey changey types - Teddy Roosevelt couldn't win as a third party candidate and he's on Mount Rushmore!

While no independent has won the presidency since George Washington, Democrats fear that Schultz would almost certainly split their vote and give Trump an easier path to re-election.

"almost certainly" The logic fits. A bunch of idiots in our nation voted for a completely unqualified reality show misogynist RINO in Adolph Trump. It follows that another bunch of idiots would vote for a coffee slinging hack because he tells them "hey lets show the other parties that spineless Independents that don't stand for anything matter".

In the end the anyone but Trump vote won't throw their votes away on a breakfast drink making sideshow suit.

Ya, ya, ya, , , , it is very easy tp point to the super-rich, and all of that but (and I'm not all that happy with it either, but) , , , , if all that is so terrible, , , , why don't you get the manager of your local McDonalds to run?

Then again, all of this discourse "turns on a dime", , , , what if Oprah runs? No problem what-so-ever there; she is a Black Woman and questions about too much money would certainly NEVER come into the discussion.

No Oprah. No business people. No actors. No activists.

Let a legislator legislate.
