America deserves trump, so it's pointless to try and use the threat of his re-election as leverage to promote a milquetoast neoliberal agenda.

I'm not in favor of asking the capitalists for reparations, I'm in favor of taking them.

Trump will be unfit to serve; mentally and physically.

Not that this is a surprise, the man can't make it 100 yards without a golf cart.

threat? just reality. fortunately, extremely radical and unrealistic numbers are few. no taking anything for you. talk like yours is just as dangerous as the far right's

The thought of something like that used to scare me, but I'm coming around to the idea that a regular semi-shitty Republican would be far less of a danger to the health of the country than the current occupant of the White House. Trump is a clueless egomaniac, that's like adding bad to bad and God only knows what his reaction will be is something real goes down; another 9/11, a Russian invasion, provocation from North Korea.

I'm talking about the reality that the Dems will probably lose because they have become "republican light". Rather than embrace the youthful left criticism of capitalism, they are doubling down on mediocrity. They're still beholden to the wealthy elites who want to maintain the status quo with liberal window dressing, but they think they are entitled to votes from everyone who isn't a trumpist.

60% of Americans can't cover an unexpected $1K bill, but:
CEO 1-YEAR SALARY RAISE

Robert Iger
.2017: $36M
.2018: $66M

Richard Handler
.2017: $19M
.2018: $45M

Stephen MacMillan
.2017: $10M
.2018: $42M

CEOs getting annual $30M raise - but raising the 10-year-old min wage of $7.25/hr to $15/hr will somehow destroy the economy?

The only thing that might save them would be a significant downturn in the economy which appears to be related to trump tax and tariff policy.

We have a winner folks. This is why reparations are a bad idea. It would allow institutional racism and hundreds of years of oppression to be ignored with a one time cash payout. Frankly, I'm surprised more white people aren't in favor of it so they could get back to using the N word and wearing blackface.

riddleme acknowledging the racism in this country reparations won't pass the Senate as it is now

We paid my Aunt and her family for sending them to forced internment camps. the payout could have been 100K times $20K but they only paid survivors It didn't break us

There are no survivors from slavery That should make the skinflints happy

Again, it's the right thing to do.
So, of course it's a terrible idea for political campaigns in the US.

They might as well run on it, because the GOP misinformation machine will have their followers convinced the democrats are going to cut checks to everyone by the whites.

They ran fake news articles saying that Obama signed an executive order doing just that.

The idea of making a direct effort to improve impoverished areas (most often caused by lingering effects of slavery, discrimination, and segregation) with better schools and economic opportunities isn't a bad one. Probably less expensive than the current method of using for profit prisons to "treat" the problem.
