Silly to suggest that AOC is "polarizing and nutzo". That's pretty ugly against a youthful Democratic Congresswoman who seems to be the only one who is proposing anything at all to improve the material situation of working people. Was I mistaken in thinking you were a Democrat? comment had nothing to do with age, gender, or ethnicity. many democrats dont support her. many democrats arent progressives. hardly unique to me, not sure why that is so shocking It's the future of your party. You can't win without them. The kids are critical of capitalism (and rightly so) and pissed that no one is taking environmental disaster seriously. You can't win on being "not trump". Either they build a coalition with the left wing or keep losing. When I was a teenager, many of my fellow baby boomers were critical of capitalism. We are now, according to Greensleeves, all old, white, male conservatives. In other words, most of the current youth will be disabused of such nonsense with the accumulation of experience and wisdom. Most youth don't know their asses from a hole in the ground. Wisdom? More like indoctrination. People like you are a bunch of greedy fools who have been played. "Too radical", "Never happen". you mean the same democratic party responsible for the affordable care act? proposing gun law reform? wanting to save the environment? fix infrastructure? you act like aoc is the only answer and no other dem wants to accomplish things for the good of the people. that is simply wrong and foolish. curious as to why you feel the need to alienate liberals, insult us, and present us forward as the enemy all the while acting super sensitive over someone polarizing like aoc? more than a tad hypocritical of you. you know what is actually destroying this country? division Affordable care act? Gun law reform? "Wanting" to save the environment? Half measures and rhetoric with no action. I never said AOC "is the only answer", I'm saying it doesn't make sense to equivocate her progressive agenda with trumpist neo-fascism. I don't see how you can get to that. AOC is one of the few voices for a mass mobilization to address an existential threat. This game of patty cake between neo-libs and the GOP isn't getting us anywhere. Neither party is proposing ANYTHING significant. It's all about maintaining the status quo. The Dem establishment is beholden to the same corporate interests as the R's, and the grassroots youth movement is pro-socialist. The GOP has a plan, and that's going to be slashing spending on programs which benefit the poor and working class. You didn't learn anything in 2016. Lunacy is repeating the same strategy and hoping for a different outcome. The original New Deal DID work in the "real world" and led to greatest expansion of the middle class in history. Now with the middle class shrinking, healthcare costs out of reach, and 10 years left to reduce carbon emissions 50% before rising temps are catastrophic, you're saying "whoah, let's not do anything rash, just be practical and realistic".
