Can't make this stuff up. Could we go back to arguing about the evils of the metric system?

Over what? You are claiming that 7.7B people can fit into a space that is 7.49B square feet. Have you seen how fat most Americans are? Good luck with that. Just try a bigger state or country or maybe find a video that takes into account that our population increases by 74M+ people each year. Maybe look at the date on your videos before posting them or something like that.

That's the land area of Texas? I though you posted that the land area of Texas was 268,820 square miles. Wikipedia seems to think that is the correct figure.

The current population is just over 7.3 billion, but that point is moot. The fact remains that you can take the entire population of Earth and put us in a small fraction of the globe. Too many people isn't the problem, too many people who don't give a shit is.

268,820 square miles and 7.49B square feet are one and the same.

Snipe, we're bagging on your math. Look, a mile is about 5000 linear ft, square that and it's about 2.5x10^7 (rounding down). Multiply that by 300000 (square miles in TX, rounding up) and you get about 7.5 x 10^12 (just add the exponents). Divide that by 7.7 billion (10^9 for billion, subtract the exponents) and you get 1x10^3, about a thousand square ft per person. And that's without using the calculator. (Kids these days.)

You can just use an online converter to get 7.49E12 if you can't be assed to type 268,820*5280*5280 into the calculator on your smart phone or computer that you are using to post to the internet.

268,820 mi^2 = 7,494,271,168,736 Ft^2 (roughly 7.5 TRILLION ft^2)

7,494,271,168,736 ft^2 / 8 billion people = 936.78 Ft^/person.

Math, people...

I see. The comparison was an abuse of math and logic to begin with but I screwed it up a bit more.

I reckon you could pack everybody into Texas and have on really huge city about half the density of NYC. But I disagree with Cole on population size, not if we really want to get the whole world up to our "western" living standard. We can optimize energy production and get a lot better at recycling metals and everything else so we don't have to do so much destructive mining and use so much forest area for pulp and such. But unless there's some huge revolution in agriculture, our food system is propped up with synthetic fertilizer.

Back to the original topic.
the predictable OAC bashing
basics
1. She represents poor people.
She knows America has historically been the best hope for most poor people.
But anyone who looks can see that mobility is slipping.

2. socialism... blah blah blah.
do you ever see any of us scary leftists advocate the government take control of the means of production?
of anything?

No. Because we live and breath the market economy, we know it works.
So enough of the straw men, stop with the lies that we advocate anything like the system in Venezuela or the one your buddy Putin murdered thousands in service of.

Talk UK, Norway, Germany, Canada, or comparisons are fair.

The lady that wrote that article dies not get it. She is totally wrong about what her progressive friends think. She needs to listen more to her classmates, less to AM radio and Facebook RT.
