Calling yourself a communist is a lot like calling yourself a christian. Most are unable to live up to it, and some are outright con-men and criminals. That doesn't make the ideal any less beautiful, and it gives people of good character something to aspire to.

socialism is a proven failed concept. what does work is capitalism with controls/constraints and strong social programs. sadly idiots on the far left feed the right's propaganda machine by pushing this nonsense. all it has accomplished is pushing more moderates away, other dems to third parties, and reinforcing the right. it is a damn shame

The far right Republicans, which makes up most of the party now, are firing up Socialism in the bellies of America's youth. They are who elected the left wave Representatives, not the party elites, so in essence, Trump voters are to blame when it comes to socialism. Twenty years from now, they will be the voice of America, like it or not.

Do I want four more years of Trump? Of course not. Our place on the world stage will be replaced by China, we will be a decade behind in the fight against global warming, the environment will suffer and racist bigotry will be like it was in the 1970's, not to mention then economic ramifications of the massive tax stimulus and Trump's inept handling of pretty much everything. Butt, is it worth waiting four more years to be done with these useless Republicans once and for all? Maybe.

You seem to think we own you something, and you're sadly mistaken. If the Dem party continues it's attack on the progressive candidates and runs another candidate that supports the status quo, it makes the accelerationist argument all the more attractive.

We are living in a socialist "moment", and while the movement may be small, it is young, and it is unburdened by neo-liberal nostalgia or red scare paranoia.

Time is on our side, because without drastic action, economic and environmental disaster are going to make collective action inevitable.

In much of the wealthy world, it also includes medicare care for all and free education,

It does not mean government control of production much anymore.
