Yep, pretty dang cool!
Way, way, back when, , , , the day that the Air Force launched a Matador from Patrick for Armed Forces Day, , , , my father was the "official" RCA motion photog. He had RCA's Grumman step van, with me in tow. He got me and his gear up on the roof of the van and got everything ready. Don't know if it was 16mm or 70mm. Anyway, , , , , 3, 2, 1, 0! Off the matador went out over the ocean. At just about the time the solid booster dropped of, , , , and point of this reply, , , , the F-86D chase plane showed up and blasted directly over our heads at about 20 feet!!! It knocked me down on the roof of the van. It blew my father's ball cap off and he said ", , , , that SOB singed my hair, , , ,!!! We aren't in any of the photos but, the van was parked to the rear of the launcher more-or-less between the crowd and the "center line".
